The Family Education Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating early childhood and family education programs for the Avondale Resource Center and assigned initiatives within the First Things First Southwest Maricopa Region. The position supervises the Family Education Assistant; assesses community needs; develops and implements program strategies; collaborates with schools, early childhood providers, and program-specific partners; ensures compliance with grant and funding requirements; supports program budgets, reporting, and grant activities; and evaluates program outcomes to recommend continuous improvements. The position exercises independent judgment in administering assigned programs and ensuring alignment with departmental priorities, City policies, and funding requirements. The position may require work outside normal business hours in the evenings and on weekends.

Supervises the Family Education Assistant, including assigning and reviewing work, providing training and coaching, monitoring performance, participating in performance evaluations, and supporting daily program operations. Serves as the primary coordinator for early childhood and family education programming and related activities for the Avondale Resource Center and assigned regional initiatives. Assesses community needs and develops, implements, and evaluates program activities, services, and strategies based on early childhood development principles, family needs, and identified service gaps. Designs and coordinates programs, workshops, and educational activities for parents and caregivers of children aged birth to five years. Develops, coordinates, and maintains partnerships with service providers, schools, libraries, community-based organizations, faith-based partners, and other stakeholders to expand awareness of and access to early childhood resources and services. Serves as a liaison to school administration, First Things First, and other local and regional partners, represents the City and department in meetings, collaborative efforts, and community initiatives related to early childhood and family support services. Develops and implements outreach, engagement, and service strategies to increase participation in programs and improve community awareness of available resources. Coordinates community events and annual family-focused events, including planning, partner engagement, logistics, communications, and implementation. Provides and coordinates culturally responsive, family-centered information, referral, and resource navigation services to residents and assists families in identifying and accessing appropriate services and supports. Monitors program activities to ensure alignment with funding objectives and City policies. Interprets grant and funding requirements; coordinates program compliance with applicable contractual, fiscal, documentation, reporting, and performance requirements. Prepares program budgets, budget narratives, grant support materials, and other financial documentation to support grant administration, funding requests, and program implementation. Research funding opportunities and assists in the development of grant applications, funding proposals, budget narratives, and supporting documentation to secure and sustain early childhood and family education programming. Prepares, reviews, analyzes, and submits accurate and timely program data, financial documentation, performance reports, and other required materials to support grant compliance, departmental operations, and funding requirements. Identifies community needs, program trends, and service gaps; evaluates program performance and outcomes; and develops recommendations to improve program effectiveness, service delivery, and operational practices. Provides professional program coordination and administrative support for assigned department initiatives, special projects, and cross-functional activities; coordinates assigned projects; and recommends operational improvements to support departmental goals and strategic priorities. Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, early childhood education, public administration, or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Two (2) years of experience working directly with families with young children. Progressively responsible experience in human services, family support services, early childhood programming, program coordination, or a related field is preferred. Experience in program planning and implementation, grant administration, compliance monitoring, budget development, reporting, supervision, and collaboration with community partners is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking ability is preferred. Valid Arizona Driver License. Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card within ten (10) business days of the initial offer of employment. The card must be presented prior to the start of employment.
