Nurse Manager

The University of Miami UHealth Primary Care - North Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Manager.

Core Job Functions:

  1. The Nurse Manager oversees patient flow through designated clinical areas. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  2. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  3. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, and to other governing agency regulations, and measuring health outcomes against standards.
  4. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
  5. Completes patient care requirements by assigning nursing and staff. Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their friends and families.
  6. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching and counseling patients, and reinforcing patients' understanding of disease, medications, and self-care.
  7. Resolve patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  8. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing related procedures, rules, and regulations.
  9. Accounts for the collection of data to ensure performance improvement and optimal customer service standards.
  10. Assures all staff meet mandatory continuing education requirements and yearly hospital-based competencies.
  11. Provides insight on the unit(s) operations to nursing leadership to assist in the development of strategic planning and departmental expansion. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures.
  12. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

Core Qualifications:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
  • AAANC Ambulatory Board Certification is strongly preferred.
  • AAANC Ambulatory Board Certification required when eligible to sit for exam.
  • AAANC Ambulatory Board Certification must be maintained while employed in this position

Experience:

  • Must have extensive knowledge of Ambulatory clinical practice, workflows, and operations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
  • Must work well independently, have sound decision making skills and work effectively with and through interprofessional colleagues when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong team player.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Must exercise a high degree of professional judgment within the scope of licensure
  • Possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively across roles, teams and departments.
  • Possess ability to manage critical issues relating to patient care and changing organizational cli
