Occupational Therapist Job Description Job Title Occupational Therapist Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a 13-week contract assignment in Hayward, California. This role involves providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to a diverse patient population, focusing on restoring function, preventing disability, and promoting independence. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient assessment, development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, and thorough documentation within a dynamic healthcare environment. This position offers an opportunity for an immediate start, contributing to patient well-being in a supportive setting. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and sensory capabilities to identify functional limitations and needs. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to improve daily living activities, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive function. Provide therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, adaptive equipment training, splinting, and environmental modifications. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, techniques, home exercise programs, and strategies for maximizing independence. Accurately and timely document patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with facility and regulatory standards. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. Required Qualifications Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Ability to work in Hayward, California. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills. Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. Knowledge of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modification techniques. Shift Details Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: September 4, 2026 Guaranteed Hours: 30 hours per week Shift Type: AM shift Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts Days per Week: 5 days per week Work Schedule Options: Tuesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Thursday. Call Requirements: Not specified. Licensing Requirements Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in the State of California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
