Job description

Are You Ready to Own Complex Shipboard Power?

Do line diagrams make sense at a glance? Can you trace a 480V three-phase fault to a failing controller before the multimeter confirms it? At Everett Ship Repair—founded in 2019 and rapidly growing in Everett, WA—you’ll apply your journeyman-level craft on commercial workboats and passenger vessels. We repair, maintain, and convert ships with the capacity and ambition of a premier Pacific Northwest yard, and we’re advancing fast alongside our experienced team and strong dry-docking capability.

Imagine This

You’re called to a medium-sized passenger vessel. The propulsion control alarms intermittently. You pull the schematic, verify voltage and resistance through the circuit, inspect trays and hangers you helped lay out, and isolate a control signal issue. By day’s end, the propulsion is stable, lights are commissioned, and steering controls are validated—ready for sea trials.

Your Core Impact

  • Translate drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code/specs into accurate layouts and installations.
  • Install shipboard wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, feeders, coax assemblies, lighting, and related hardware.
  • Lay out wireways, set cable trays, and place initial hangers.
  • Test components and systems for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Service/install motors, generators, industrial storage batteries, and controls supporting hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain/repair electrical controls tied to main propulsion systems.
  • Install and verify electrohydraulic steering control functionality.
  • Install and calibrate industrial instrumentation when required.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair marine electrical and electromechanical systems using sound technical principles.
  • Complete electrical fitting work: stud runs, cableways, controller mounts, and associated mounting hardware.
  • Operate confidently on 480V three-phase power.
  • Work as a collaborative teammate—adapt, interpret, and problem-solve efficiently.
  • Take on additional related duties as assigned.

Can You Check These Boxes?

  • Read specs and blueprints; align work to contract requirements and schedules.
  • Understand shipyard safety, vessel terminology; experienced with scissor and boom lifts.
  • Comfortable in confined spaces and variable indoor/outdoor weather conditions.
  • Solid basic math skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years as a General Maintenance Worker (or similar) with marine electrical maintenance/repair exposure.
  • 2–3 years working directly with electrical systems.
  • Valid WA State driver’s license.

Make Your Application Stand Out

  • Marine Electrician experience
  • WA 01 Journeyman Electrical Card (industrial experience)
  • Working knowledge of applicable NAVSEA Standard Items
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • NFPA 70E training
  • Understanding of IEEE 45 and relevant CFR installation requirements
  • Forklift and manlift certifications and experience
  • Interest and aptitude for future crew leadership roles

Technical Strengths We Value

  • Electrical schematic reading and interpretation
  • 120/208/240/480 V power distribution
  • Electrical installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair
  • Electrical/electronic systems, plus heavy equipment systems diagnostics
  • IEEE 45 and NFPA 70E

What You’ll Receive

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Health Savings Account
  • Group life insurance with optional supplemental life and disability
  • Paid time off and 9 paid holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • State-certified apprenticeship programs and a culture of learning
