Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex electrical power engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline and an interest in growing into project management. This role combines technical knowledge with field coordination, project documentation, scheduling, client communication, and testing and commissioning support.
Responsibilities include managing all site-level document control, processing and tracking RFIs, preparing and submitting site submittals, maintaining organized site files, supporting the Project Manager in assembling and maintaining job packets, preparing and submitting daily progress reports, maintaining a daily site log, photographing work in progress, tracking daily quantities, conducting daily crew briefings, coordinating daily work sequencing, monitoring daily progress against the project schedule, tracking daily headcount, labor hours, and equipment usage, coordinating material deliveries, monitoring subcontractor performance, and documenting and communicating any subcontractor performance issues.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, construction management, or related technical field, 3+ years of experience managing utility or electrical infrastructure projects, strong background in electrical systems, power distribution, protection & control, or substation testing, working knowledge of NETA testing procedures, proficiency with project management tools, experience managing electrical subcontractors and leading field testing teams, ability to confidently interface with engineers, electricians, clients, and utility stakeholders, ability to prioritize and manage multiple fast-paced projects with competing deadlines, hands-on field or trade experience, PMP, PE license, or NETA Level III/IV certification, valid driver's license, and willingness to travel 30-40% to project sites across assigned regions during active phases.
