Part-Time | Base Pay + Shared Tips

Grit & Grind Cafe is a locally owned, family-operated restaurant in Phenix City, and we're looking for dependable, energetic people to join our Front of House team.

We're not a giant restaurant chain, and we don't want to operate like one. We want good people who show up, work hard, take care of our guests and enjoy being part of a small team.

In return, we try to offer something that's getting harder to find in the restaurant business: good earning potential, reasonable hours, no late nights and time to actually have a life outside of work.

PAY + TIPS

Base pay is $8–$10/hour depending on experience, availability and position — PLUS participation in our shared tip pool.

Our tip pool has historically added at least approximately $4/hour to eligible team members' earnings, and our team is currently averaging around $16/hour in total earnings including tips. That's potentially $8/hr EXTRA in tips on top of your base pay!

Tips are distributed among eligible team members in addition to their hourly base wage.

Tip amounts vary based on customer tipping, hours worked and other factors and are not guaranteed. Past tip earnings do not guarantee future earnings. Tips are also an accountability compensation , provide great service to unleash maximum earnings!

OUR HOURS

Our restaurant is currently open:

Wednesday–Friday: 11:00 AM–8:00 PM
Saturday: 6:30 AM–1:30 PM
Sunday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
Monday & Tuesday: CLOSED

We're hiring part-time team members for a variety of shifts. Availability can include weekday daytime, after-school/evening shifts, weekend mornings or a combination.

Weekend availability is strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Front of House Team Members aren't stuck doing one thing all day. You'll learn different parts of the restaurant and help wherever you're needed to keep guests and orders moving.

Responsibilities may include:

• Greeting guests and providing friendly customer service

• Taking orders and operating our POS/register

• Learning our menu and helping guests with selections

• Preparing and serving coffee and other beverages

• Answering phones

• Bagging takeout and online orders

• Coordinating DoorDash and delivery orders

• Checking orders for accuracy before they leave

• Keeping the front counter and dining room clean and organized

• Restocking supplies

• Completing opening and closing responsibilities

• Helping teammates during busy periods

• Learning additional restaurant positions as you grow with us

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience is great. Reliability is better.

You don't need years of restaurant experience to work here. We'll teach the right person what they need to know.

We're looking for people who are dependable, friendly, comfortable talking with customers and willing to stay busy. You should be able to multitask, communicate with your teammates, learn new things and recognize when something needs to be done.

Most importantly, show up when you're scheduled, come ready to work and take pride in doing your job well.

If this is your first restaurant job, that's okay.

If you've worked as a Restaurant Team Member, Front of House Team Member, Cashier, Customer Service Team Member, Crew Member, Counter Service Team Member, Barista, Restaurant Associate or Food Service Worker, your experience may be a great fit here.

Must be at least 14 years old * Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods * Able to lift up to 25 lbs (stocking drinks, supplies, etc.) * Reliable transportation to and from shifts * Must be able to work weekends * Comfortable handling cash, card transactions, and POS systems * Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with both guests and teammates
