Principal Software Engineer - Embedded Platform

Salary: $107,500 - 204,500 per year

Requirements:

• We require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• We require an active and existing Secret DoD clearance after day one.
• We require experience developing in modern programming languages such as C++ and Java in a Linux environment.
• We require experience with rapid prototyping and building software solutions quickly.
• We typically require a STEM degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.
• We prefer experience with embedded software development and software/hardware integration.
• We prefer experience with software-defined radios or multi-function RF systems.
• We prefer experience with Electronic Warfare and Position, Navigation & Timing systems.
• We prefer experience with object-oriented design and development, as well as multithreading.
• We prefer experience with Agile/SCRUM, DevOps, and test automation practices.
• We prefer experience using configuration management and defect tracking tools such as Git and JIRA.
• We prefer experience developing, testing, and deploying software in Python and C/C++.
• We prefer familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.
• An active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret clearance is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 15% is required.

Responsibilities:

• We participate in requirements analysis, design, development, and testing of software, including new work products and enhancements to existing applications and systems.
• We design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
• We take part in internal reviews of software components and systems.
• We work closely with project managers and other Engineering professionals.
• We follow established development practices and processes to maintain software configuration management.
• We help advance the software development environment and DevOps practices within Engineering.
• We design and develop innovative solutions for communications, navigation, radar, and electronic warfare applications.
• We derive requirements for new concepts and systems from overall project goals.
• We develop, champion, and pursue new approaches and solutions.
• We collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to rapidly identify and implement effective solutions.
• We create and deliver technical presentations that explain design approaches and their connection to project objectives.
• We support assigned tasks with accountability for technical execution, cost, schedule, and design-to-cost/manufacturability targets.
