Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, NIVES is more than just a hospital. It's one of the largest specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals in the state, serving pets and their families throughout northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern Michigan. As our Medical Director, you'll have the unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence with strategic leadership while shaping the future of a thriving, multi-specialty practice. NIVES has been providing exceptional specialty and emergency care for more than 20 years and is AAHA-accredited and the only VECCS Level II Certified veterinary critical care facility in Indiana.

NIVES is recognized for its commitment to advanced medicine, compassionate care, and collaboration with referring veterinarians. Our Medical Director will lead and support an exceptional team that includes:

• Board-certified specialists in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency & Critical Care, and soon-to-be Medical Oncology
• A dedicated team of 12 experienced emergency veterinarians providing 24/7 emergency care, 365 days a year
• Highly skilled licensed technicians and compassionate support staff
• A collaborative, referral-based environment focused on delivering the highest standard of patient care
• State-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including CT imaging, digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, in-house laboratory services, and a fully staffed ICU offering advanced critical care and transfusion medicine
• As Medical Director, you'll play a key role in shaping medical standards, mentoring clinicians, fostering an engaging and positive culture, and driving clinical excellence across all departments.

In your day-to-day, you will:

As Medical Director, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing medical leadership and strategic direction for the hospital
• Partnering with the Hospital Director to achieve operational excellence
• Mentoring and developing a talented team of veterinarians
• Leading medical quality assurance and continuing education initiatives
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and retention of exceptional clinicians
• Promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Maintaining a partial clinical caseload to remain actively involved in patient care

• Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or medical management experience preferred

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to building relationships with colleagues and the referring veterinary community
• Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Indiana
