Company: EBway LLC
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Plant Manager

Position Summary

EBway LLC, a precision metal-stamping manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support and ultimately take ownership of the company’s quality systems and daily quality activities.

This position combines quality engineering, inspection, documentation and direct production support. The Quality Engineer will prepare PPAPs, support customer and certification audits, manage gauges and calibration, create inspection programs, investigate nonconformances, and work with production employees to prevent recurring quality problems.

Because EBway is a smaller manufacturing company, this is not a desk-only position. The Quality Engineer must be willing to inspect parts, develop fixtures, work directly with stamping and CNC personnel, and help resolve production problems on the manufacturing floor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and submit Production Part Approval Process documentation, including control plans, process flow diagrams, inspection results, capability studies, material certifications and related records.
  • Maintain and improve the company’s quality-management system.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer, regulatory and quality-system audits.
  • Respond to customer quality concerns and prepare corrective-action reports, including 8D and root-cause analyses.
  • Investigate internal and external nonconformances.
  • Work with production, tooling and management to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop inspection plans based on customer drawings, specifications and purchase-order requirements.
  • Perform and oversee incoming, in-process, first-piece, last-piece and final inspections.
  • Program and operate Keyence inspection equipment.
  • Use standard inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, optical comparators, pin gauges and other dimensional-measurement tools.
  • Maintain the gauge calibration system and ensure measuring equipment remains properly identified, calibrated and traceable.
  • Review engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
  • Conduct measurement-system analyses, capability studies and statistical-process-control activities when required.
  • Review material certifications, heat-treatment certifications, plating certifications and outside-processing documentation.
  • Verify that customer-specific requirements are communicated and followed.
  • Develop or coordinate the manufacture of inspection fixtures and gauges.
  • Use CAD and 3D printing to create inspection fixtures or production aids when appropriate.
  • Establish inspection frequencies and ensure that inspection records are complete and accurate.
  • Train quality inspectors and production employees on inspection methods, quality requirements and proper use of measuring equipment.
  • Assist with supplier-quality issues and communicate with outside processors and material suppliers.
  • Help determine disposition of nonconforming material and maintain appropriate records.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify inspections, reduce errors and automate repetitive measurement processes.
  • Support new-product introduction and manufacturing-process development.
  • Maintain organized quality records and ensure required documentation is readily available for customers and auditors.
  • Provide regular reporting on scrap, rework, customer complaints, corrective actions and other quality metrics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field; equivalent directly relevant manufacturing-quality experience may be considered.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of dimensional inspection and common measuring instruments.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and root-cause-analysis ability.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work directly with production employees in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities and respond to urgent production or customer-quality issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of quality-engineering experience in metal stamping, machining, automotive, aerospace, electrical-component or precision manufacturing.
  • Experience preparing and submitting PPAPs.
  • Experience with Keyence dimensional-inspection systems and programming.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with control plans, process capability, SPC, MSA, gauge R&R, PFMEA and first-article inspection.
  • Experience preparing 8D corrective-action reports.
  • Experience supporting customer or quality-system audits.
  • Familiarity with ISO-based quality-management systems and customer-specific requirements.
  • Experience managing gauge calibration.
  • CAD and 3D-printing experience.
  • Familiarity with metal stamping, CNC machining, heat treatment, plating and material certifications.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys solving manufacturing problems rather than only documenting them.
  • Can move comfortably between the inspection room, production floor and customer documentation.
  • Is willing to personally perform inspections when workloads require it.
  • Can communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, customers and auditors.
  • Is highly organized and follows assignments through completion.
  • Can eventually supervise and develop quality-department personnel.
  • Understands that quality problems are best solved by improving the process, not simply sorting defective parts.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on a manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and handle parts and inspection fixtures weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work around industrial machinery, metalworking fluids and normal manufacturing noise.
  • Ability to inspect small features and accurately read measuring instruments.

Compensation

Expected compensation is approximately $75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on education, relevant manufacturing experience and demonstrated technical capability.

Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, 401k, and bonuses if goals are met.

Work Schedule is 7am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and job-related background check.
