Parole Program Specialist (Case Analyst)

Guided by the Agency's mission "To reduce recidivism among those we touch," the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated security minded professional to assume the responsibilities of a Parole Program Specialist (Case Analyst) in Montgomery County.

What You'll Do:

Assists Regional Administrators of Adult Parole Authority field services in administration of supervision programs & directing operations of field services

Drafts, interprets, evaluates, & trains on policies, procedures & administrative rules for field & outside agencies

Chairs or participates on work groups, committees, or task forces to identify & resolve problems & to improve delivery of services to staff & offenders

Monitors quality of reports & services delivered by field staff through use of management information systems & data

Recommends system improvements

Acts independently & makes recommendations when necessary to effect change

May participate in internal management audits, & serve on Bureau of Internal Standards & Compliance audit team

Identifies training needs in area of policies & procedures for unit supervisors, senior parole officers, & parole officers

Provides current & up-to-date information to regional staff regarding policy changes in policy & procedures for all field services operational & programming areas

Performs other duties as directed related to interstate compact, fugitive, placement & field services.

May directly supervise staff

Prioritizes & approves work schedules & itineraries

Assigns reviews & approves work products for content & accuracy

Responds to questions & concerns & resolves problems

Disseminates & interprets policy & procedures

Approves requests for leave, overtime, compensatory time, bi-weekly attendance reports & travel vouchers

Identifies training needs & conducts or arranges for training opportunities (i.e. on-the-job & in-service)

Writes employee goals & completes & conducts timely performance evaluation reviews

Responds to EEO complaints & grievances

Conducts investigations & presents at pre-disciplinary hearings of alleged staff misconduct as requested

Initiate disciplinary action if necessary

Responds to complaints about staff

May participate in employment selection process to include screening, interviewing & conducting pre-employment background investigations of applicants

Conducts exit interviews as required

May be required to conduct special investigations involving unusual incidents & employee misconduct & serve as Hearing Officer for Pre-Disciplinary hearings

Conducts, attends staff meetings, trainings & conferences.

May be required to complete Administrative Review reports, detailing complete supervision history of cases referred for Administrative Review to ensure that policy & procedures were followed

Provides details of areas not in compliance & makes recommendation for referral to Audit & Investigations

Prepares written responses to inquiries from offenders regarding status of their detainers, violation charges, programming & supervision; may be required to act as a liaison between DRC & internal/external agencies within & outside of Ohio

Attends meetings, trainings & conferences

May give presentations & conduct training

Responds both verbally & in writing to questions & concerns

Works on special projects &/or committees as assigned

Performs other duties as assigned

Must conduct themselves professionally & in a law-abiding manner at all times & in accordance with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction Standards of Employee Conduct.

Serves as Duty Officer after hours on rotating basis as emergency contact for outside law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications

6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.

-Or completion of graduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in correction/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Senior Parole Officer, 69812; valid Ohio Driver's license.

-Or 24 mos. exp. as Parole Officer, 69810 or 69811; valid Ohio Driver's license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
