Requirements:
- Working knowledge of C or C++ programming
- Foundational grasp of computer architecture and embedded systems principles
- Basic understanding of software-hardware interaction, including registers, memory addressing, memory-mapped I/O, interrupts, timers, and peripheral devices

- Preferred exposure to embedded C/C++, microcontroller or microprocessor projects, assembly language, PowerPC/Intel x86/ARM architectures, schematics, debugging tools, memory technologies, communications interfaces, FPGA/CPLD work, bootloaders, avionics systems, built-in test, manufacturing test, hardware verification, safety-critical, or high-reliability embedded systems
- Ability to relocate to Lees Summit, MO before starting work preferred

Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, debug, document, and maintain embedded diagnostic and functional test software under senior engineering guidance
- Write embedded C/C++ software for PowerPC- and Intel x86-based hardware platforms
- Study electronic schematics, processor manuals, memory maps, interface specifications, component datasheets, and existing source code
- Help build low-level software that communicates directly with processor and board-level hardware
- Create and validate diagnostic routines for RAM, FLASH, Ethernet controllers, timers, watchdogs, interrupts, registers, memory-mapped I/O, communications interfaces, video controllers, and discrete/digital I/O
- Assist in developing memory and FLASH diagnostics to detect hardware and data-integrity issues
- Develop and test software that initializes and verifies Ethernet controllers and other communications interfaces
- Support testing of interrupt controllers, timers, watchdog circuits, reset behavior, and other processor resources
- Learn to create or adapt startup, initialization, and processor-specific routines, including assembly language where appropriate
- Troubleshoot hardware/software interactions using JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related lab equipment
- Work with existing and legacy source code to understand system behavior and extend diagnostic coverage to additional hardware platforms
- Take part in hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, design reviews, and verification activities
- Document test procedures, software interfaces, hardware dependencies, expected outcomes, and fault conditions
- Collaborate with senior engineers, avionics technicians, and other engineering teams to investigate and resolve hardware and software issues
