Duck Creek Developer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Duck Creek Software Engineer job in Boston, MA. This contract-to-hire position is available with one of our key clients in the commercial insurance industry.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and supporting Duck Creek Policy Administration solutions that enable scalable, reusable platform capabilities across a modern insurance ecosystem. You will work closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that improve operational efficiency, accelerate product delivery, and support long-term platform growth.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on Duck Creek development experience, strong software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while contributing to architecture, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duck Creek Software Engineer Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, configure, and support Duck Creek Policy Administration solutions including rating, rules, forms, manuscripts, workflows, and integrations.
• Build reusable platform capabilities that support multiple insurance products while improving scalability and long-term maintainability.
• Translate business and operational requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions aligned with established engineering standards.
• Participate in technical design sessions with Architects and Principal Engineers to evaluate implementation approaches, scalability, and long-term platform strategy.
• Develop and support integrations utilizing REST APIs, messaging frameworks, and third-party applications.
• Participate throughout the Agile software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to simplify implementations, reduce technical debt, eliminate duplication, and improve platform sustainability.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, defect resolution, root cause analysis, production support, and engineering quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders, underwriting teams, QA, and Engineering leadership to understand business processes and improve operational workflows.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, solution demonstrations, and stakeholder reviews while communicating technical solutions and business value.
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, scalability, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2-5 years of hands-on Duck Creek development experience, preferably within Duck Creek Policy Administration.
• Experience developing software solutions beyond configuration work, including APIs, systems integration, workflow automation, and distributed applications.
• Experience participating in technical design discussions and solution architecture activities.
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming using C#/.NET.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Insurance, underwriting, or policy administration experience is strongly preferred.
