IT Cloud Architect

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill an IT Cloud Architect job in Providence, RI. This DIRECT HIRE job is available with one of our key customers in the healthcare industry. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and cost-efficient multi-cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and Citrix environments. In order to be successful in this position, you must have five or more years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation, along with strong knowledge of networking, security, virtualization, and cloud technologies. Preference will be given to someone with hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, containerization, disaster recovery, and cloud security and compliance in a healthcare environment.

IT Cloud Architect Job responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and technical needs.

• Design cloud architectures that meet scalability, performance, security, and compliance requirements.

• Create detailed technical design documents, including diagrams, for cloud solutions.

• Deploy and configure cloud resources, virtual machines, containers, and services in Azure and AWS.

• Automate deployment and management processes using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager templates.

• Implement security best practices and access controls to protect cloud environments and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.

• Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, optimize resource usage, and implement scaling strategies to support increased workloads and traffic.

• Control and optimize cloud costs by identifying cost-effective services, rightsizing resources, and implementing cloud cost monitoring and budget strategies.

• Design and implement high-availability solutions, including failover, disaster recovery, backup, and data retention strategies.

• Develop scripts and automation workflows to streamline provisioning, scaling, and maintenance processes, and implement CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud environments and configurations and provide training and guidance to internal teams on cloud best practices.

• Stay current with Azure and AWS services, updates, and pricing changes, and assess and recommend new services that can improve infrastructure and operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Security, or a related field is preferred, with five or more years of experience in cloud design and implementation.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong understanding of networking, security, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure technologies, including Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and Citrix.

• Experience with cloud-related tools, Infrastructure as Code, scripting, and programming languages such as Terraform, PowerShell, or Python.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, project management, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and translate business needs into technical solutions.

• Industry certification or hands-on experience with technologies such as Azure, AWS, VMware, Citrix XenApp, Cisco networking, or Windows Server is preferred.
