Job description
A global investment-management organization is seeking an Application Support Specialist to support critical trading and enterprise applications.
This hands-on position combines production support with SQL troubleshooting, reporting, scripting, automation, testing, and release support. The successful candidate will work directly with business users, investigate time-sensitive application and data problems, and coordinate with technology teams through resolution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support trading and non-trading applications in production.
- Investigate application incidents, system errors, failed processes, and data discrepancies.
- Communicate directly with traders and other business users during production issues.
- Write and troubleshoot SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, and views.
- Develop and support operational reporting using SSRS.
- Automate recurring support processes using PowerShell.
- Troubleshoot application integrations, web services, and file transfers.
- Participate in application testing, migrations, releases, and production deployments.
- Track defects and communicate status, risks, dependencies, and resolutions.
- Document applications, incidents, support procedures, and technical solutions.
- Participate in scheduled weekend maintenance and testing on a rotating basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 10 years of application support or related application-development experience.
- Professional experience within financial services.
- Experience supporting business-critical production applications.
- Strong MS SQL Server experience.
- Hands-on experience with stored procedures, views, queries, and scripts.
- Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Strong Windows application support experience.
- PowerShell scripting or automation experience.
- Knowledge of web services, FTP/SFTP, XML, HTML, and SDLC processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, ownership, documentation, and communication skills.
- Bachelor s degree.
- Ability to work onsite four days per week.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Charles River Development OMS.
- Experience supporting another investment or trading platform.
- Portfolio-management, trading-blotter, compliance, or order-management workflows.
- JAMS or another enterprise scheduling platform.
- FIX connectivity exposure.
- Buy-side or asset-management experience.
