Aerospace Designated Quality Representative (DQR)

Role Overview

As our Aerospace Designated Quality Representative, you are the on-the-ground quality ambassador for key aerospace customers. You translate purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and quality clauses into clear actions on the shop floor, ensuring every part and every record aligns with customer requirements, engineering intent, and aerospace quality standards.

A Day in the Life

Your morning might start at a CMM verifying a first-piece, move into an in-process check with calipers and gauges, then shift to coordinating a customer source inspection before lunch. In the afternoon, you’re reviewing a FAIR package against AS9102, validating material and special-process certs for traceability, and closing the loop on a corrective action from last week’s MRB with Engineering and Production.

What You’ll Own

• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned aerospace customer quality representatives.
• Interpret and implement purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and customer quality clauses.
• Perform/support first-piece, in-process, final, receiving, source, and First Article inspections.
• Verify conformity using CMMs, vision systems, micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related precision equipment.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate FAI/FAIRs to AS9102 and customer-specific requirements.
• Examine material and special-process certifications, test reports, inspection records, and Certificates of Conformance for accuracy and full traceability.
• Confirm inspection/quality documentation is complete and correct prior to shipment.
• Identify and document nonconformances; support MRB, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer responses.
• Schedule/host customer source inspections, audits, quality visits, and FAIR submissions.
• Ensure special processes are performed by approved sources; support compliance with customer and Nadcap requirements.
• Track customer-specific requirements and changes to drawings, specifications, and clauses.
• Drive continuous improvement to lower scrap, rework, customer complaints, and inspection-related delays.
• Coach inspectors and production staff on quality and inspection best practices as needed.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a technical degree or relevant aerospace/manufacturing education is preferred.
• 3–5 years in aerospace manufacturing, quality, inspection, or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
• Hands-on experience with precision metrology and inspection tools.
• Proficiency with FAI/FAIR development and AS9102.
• Background reviewing material and special-process certifications.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and broader aerospace quality requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail, documentation rigor, communication, and organization.
• Comfort collaborating with customers, Engineering, Production, Quality, and management.

Preferred

• Prior experience as a DQR, Source Inspector, Customer Quality Representative, or Aerospace Quality Inspector.
• Familiarity supporting Pratt & Whitney, GE Aerospace, Collins Aerospace, Boeing, or similar customers.
• Experience with CMM and/or vision inspection systems.
• Knowledge of Nadcap special-process requirements.
• ASQ CQI, CQT, or comparable certification.
• Comfort with customer portals, electronic FAIR platforms, and ERP/MRP or QMS tools.

Work Details

• Work Environment: Manufacturing setting with frequent time on the production floor alongside Quality, Engineering, and Production, plus office-based tasks for documentation and customer communications.
• Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, bending, and hands-on inspection. Ability to safely handle parts of varying sizes/weights and operate precision measuring equipment.
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, with flexibility for extended hours or weekends to support operations as needed.
