Key Accountabilities:

Plant Safety Management – 60%:

  • Direct safety activities for all site personnel and contractors, ensuring full compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) records and documentation.

  • Conduct regular plant safety meetings, monthly inspections, hazard reporting, and provide safety training to employees.

  • Help lead morning toolbox meetings with plant personnel.

  • Promote and track participation in the Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) program.

  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and site inspections.

  • Provide immediate leadership and corrective action regarding unsafe behaviors. Exercise judgment in removing contractors or recommending employee discipline when necessary.

  • Support incident response activities, including investigation, documentation, reporting, and ensuring record keeping compliance.

  • Support the workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.

  • Actively participate in all site inspections including OSHA, FIFRA, NSF, FDA, PSM, customer, and corporate audits.

  • Support the identification and implementation of cost-effective safety initiatives to align with plant budget objectives. Guide the implementation of TKI HSE procedures through training, monitoring, and corrective actions.

  • Monitor weather conditions to assess environmental risks and implement appropriate safe work practices.

  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to support the full implementation of all health and safety initiatives.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and applicable plant safety standards.

  • Punctual, dependable, and well-prepared for each shift.

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Hazardous Waste & Environmental Compliance – 15%:

  • Manage hazardous waste labeling, storage, disposal, and recordkeeping in compliance with EPA, RCRA, and other environmental regulations.

  • Coordinate with licensed waste disposal vendors to ensure regulatory compliance and proper documentation.

  • Maintain current hazardous materials inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Oversee compliance with all environmental permits, including air, stormwater, wastewater, and well water permits. Perform required inspections, monitoring, and equipment maintenance.

  • Update and maintain the Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) in collaboration with TKI Corporate Regulatory Affairs.

  • Manage the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including procedure writing, training, inspections, and documentation related to pressure vessels, boilers, relief valves, and mechanical integrity.

  • Supervise and manage the public water system, including sampling, reporting, contractor oversight, and employee training.

  • Complete required training and maintain certifications such as OSHA 29 CFR 1910, HAZWOPER, RCRA, IATA, IMDG and DOT Hazardous Materials to ensure high-level performance and compliance with regulatory standards.

Lab Quality Assurance – 15%:

  • Oversee lab operations related to product testing and quality control.

  • Implement and maintain QA procedures to ensure all products meet company and regulatory standards.

  • Review test results and work with production to resolve quality issues and adjust processes as needed.

  • Bring quality issues to plant management’s attention.

  • Maintain and coordinate NSF status.

  • Maintain and organize SDS.

  • Manage CFDA items and issues.

  • Maintain and organize EPA labels, registration and product labels.

  • Prepare and distribute C of A’s and C of C’s.

  • Maintain a sample retention library and recycle materials in accordance with TKI standards.

  • Manage lab supply inventories for both the Main Lab and Process Area Lab.

  • Coordinate shipment of all product samples as requested by TKI.

Scale house Attendant – 5%:

  • Provide break and absence coverage for the Office Manager as needed.

  • Manage all inbound and outbound plant traffic, including bulk trucks, raw material deliveries, vendors, and contractors.

  • Ensure all documentation (e.g., Bill of Lading, shipping labels, seal records) is accurate and properly filed.

  • Verify all visitors, vendors, and contractors are signed in and out appropriately.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized scale house environment.

  • Help keep track of seal inventories and let management know when it is time to order more.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for seals, sample jars, and shipping documentation.


Qualifications

Key Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors:

  • High school diploma required; additional technical training or certifications in safety, environmental compliance, or quality assurance is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) regulations.

  • Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and implement practical, compliant solutions.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently, prioritizing responsibilities under minimal supervision.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations and determine appropriate responses.

  • Able to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions accurately.

  • Capable of processing and managing documentation accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of their job responsibilities and supports other roles as needed.

  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment, procedures, and chemical hygiene regulations.

  • Strong mathematical and critical thinking skills.

  • Knowledge of key regulations regarding labs to include chemical hygiene.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with employees at all levels, including management, contractors, and vendors.

  • Collaborative team player who contributes to a positive work environment.

  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a consistent work ethic; sets a positive example for others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hats, safety glasses or goggles, steel-toed boots, chemical suits, and appropriate respiratory protection.

  • Must be medically cleared and physically able to use respiratory protection equipment such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), in-line air systems with full-face respirators, and other approved respiratory devices.

  • Must be able to climb industrial ladders and stairs of varying heights.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks that involve reaching, pulling, pushing, and other manual activities.

  • Must be capable of walking distances up to ¼ mile throughout the work shift, including navigating uneven surfaces and varying plant conditions.

  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders multiple times per shift.
