Estimator
The Estimator reports to the Pre-Construction & HVAC Manager. As the estimator he/she analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, and/or services. The estimator ensures that Capstone's computer system operates consistently and effectively with most recent software updates and that our pricing database is kept current. Representative duties include:
- Reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements, and preparing itemized takeoffs on ductwork, piping and plumbing using the QuickPen
- Computing cost factors and preparing estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost
- Conducting special studies to increase cost-effectiveness of
- Consulting with clients, vendors, and department managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve
- Maintain QuickPen software and hardware including updates and
- Work with project managers to complete post project analysis of estimates
- Update labor and pricing tables as needed in QuickPen
- Secure all plans, specifications, and addenda for projects on bid list and maintain electronic copies of each
- Distribute list of job we are bidding to our bidders Maintain this bidders list and update as needed
- Assist in bid day proposal preparation
- Keep at least one person trained as a back-up for estimating on QuickPen Management will identify the backup person.
Job Requirements
- Educational and/or Experience Requirements: S. in Engineering or substantial experience in these fields is acceptable.
- Minimum of four years' experience as an Estimator for an HVACR contracting or building-related services business or substantial experience in the sheet metal, plumbing and piping industry
Job Specific Requirements:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans, specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure
- Knowledge and experience in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentage ratios, and proportions to practical
- Possession of all certificates, licenses and registration that may be required to perform services in the jurisdiction where work will be
- Current Texas driver's license and the ability to drive all types of vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial Incumbent must be insurable by current Capstone insurance carrier.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access, in the most current version), PowerPoint,
