Technical Lead

The Technical Design Lead drives the end-to-end design and development of technical training curricula that strengthen workforce capability in complex manufacturing and semiconductor environments. This role focuses on translating advanced engineering and manufacturing concepts into structured, role-based learning programs that support onboarding, new product introduction, cross-training, certification, and long-term career development. The Technical Design Lead ensures that all training programs are measurable, scalable, and aligned with business performance goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end curriculum development initiatives, including training needs assessment, competency mapping, learning path design, content creation, pilot delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with subject matter experts to define clear learning objectives and transform complex technical concepts into engaging, role-based training programs.
• Design structured training curricula covering manufacturing processes, semiconductor equipment, system architecture, and hardware and software interactions.
• Develop onboarding, new product introduction, cross-training, certification, and career development programs that improve workforce readiness and operational performance.
• Establish measurable training outcomes and evaluate program effectiveness using knowledge assessments, skills validation, learner feedback, and business performance indicators.
• Modernize legacy training content and create scalable learning assets that support instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced learning environments.
• Maintain training documentation, learning management system content, and curriculum governance processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
• Conduct training needs analyses to identify capability gaps that impact business performance and recommend targeted learning solutions.
• Apply instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, or comparable frameworks to structure and optimize training programs.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and quality teams to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of training content.
• Create and manage digital training materials, presentations, and supporting documentation using standard office and content development tools.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Education, Instructional Design, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
• Proven experience developing technical training programs within semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial equipment, or a comparable technical environment.
• Experience designing and implementing curriculum, certification, or workforce development programs.
• Experience delivering instructor-led technical training to manufacturing, engineering, or field service audiences.
• Strong skills in curriculum architecture, learning path design, and competency-based training program development.
• Expertise applying instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, or comparable frameworks.
• Ability to conduct training needs analyses and identify capability gaps that affect business performance.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering and manufacturing concepts into clear, actionable learning experiences.
• Experience establishing training effectiveness measures using recognized evaluation approaches and business performance indicators.
• Ability to build credibility and influence across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and quality organizations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Proficiency working with learning management systems and digital content development tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in curriculum development for technical or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Experience with document management practices in a regulated or quality-focused environment.
• Understanding of system architecture and hardware-software interactions in industrial or semiconductor contexts.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple curriculum projects and maintain governance over training documentation and content.

Work Environment

This role operates in a highly technical, manufacturing-focused environment that emphasizes precision, quality, and continuous improvement. The Technical Design Lead works closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and quality teams, often collaborating in office settings, meeting rooms, and training areas equipped with standard office technology, learning management systems, and digital content development tools. Training programs may support both classroom-based and virtual delivery, as well as self-paced learning formats. The work involves structured documentation practices and alignment with compliance and audit requirements, with professional attire typically expected in office and training settings.

This is a Permanent position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $113000.00 - $144000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
