Job description

GED Instructor / English Language Teacher

Location: Forest, MS
Schedule: Monday & Wednesday
Shift: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Shift: 1st Shift
Duration: 14 Weeks, with likely extension

Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified GED Instructor / English Language Teacher to provide educational instruction and test preparation to adult learners. The instructor will teach High School Equivalency (HSE) materials, develop course content, and support learners in achieving their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) materials and test preparation to adult learners.
  • Provide instruction covering Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Create and develop instructional materials and resources for assigned courses.
  • Deliver clear, engaging, and effective lessons tailored to adult learners.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations and directions.
  • Attend partner meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development training as required.
  • Stay current with instructional strategies and continuously enhance teaching skills.
  • Participate in recruitment events and program activities to support learner engagement.
  • Participate in culminating activities and community engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain organized course materials and instructional records.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools for course preparation, documentation, and communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and instructional methods.
  • Knowledge of Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies concepts relevant to High School Equivalency preparation.
  • Native-like fluency in English, including strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise instructions and explanations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Teaching, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in High School Equivalency or adult education.
  • Experience working with adult learners is preferred.
