Universal Banker Position SummaryThe Universal Banker delivers exceptional customer service while performing a wide range of retail banking functions. This role combines teller operations, new account services, and relationship building to help customers achieve their financial goals while ensuring accurate transactions and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.Essential ResponsibilitiesServe as the first point of contact, providing professional, courteous service in person and over the phone.Process teller transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and transfers while maintaining balancing accuracy.Support daily branch operations, including vault, ATM balancing, cash shipments, account verification, and other operational duties.Process account maintenance requests, including debit cards, check orders, stop payments, address changes, and wire transfers.Prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and maintain working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) requirements.Manage risk by identifying suspicious or fraudulent activity and following established procedures.Assist customers with electronic banking services, including online banking, mobile banking, mobile deposit, and e-statements.Research accounts, resolve customer inquiries, disputes, fraud concerns, and other banking issues.Assess customer needs, build lasting relationships, and recommend appropriate products and services.Open and maintain consumer and business deposit accounts, Certificates of Deposit (CDs), and related banking products.Prepare new account documentation, obtain required disclosures, and accurately enter information into the core processing systemply with all bank policies, security standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous customer service experience required; cash handling experience preferred.Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn banking software.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesOutstanding customer service and relationship-building skills.Sales aptitude with the ability to identify customer needs and recommend financial solutions.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while handling sensitive customer information confidentially.Working ConditionsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.Regular interaction with customers in a retail banking environment.Hours vary based on branch needs; must be available to work until 6:00 p.m.Additional InformationFull-time positionpetitive salary; pay commensurate with experienceprehensive benefits package.Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).About First Midwest Bank of Poplar BluffFor more than 50 years, First Midwest Bank has provided innovative financial solutions backed by hometown service.
