Warehouse Material Handler

Location: Irving, Texas
Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Position Type: Warehouse

Job Summary

The Warehouse Material Handler performs a variety of duties related to receiving, distributing, assembling, shipping, and storing finished goods and materials. This position supports inventory accuracy and efficient material flow throughout the warehouse while following all company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.

The role also involves handling formulation and gel-mix materials, including moving drums, pallets, pumps, and related equipment. Employees must be able to safely handle heavy materials using appropriate mechanical aids and follow all applicable safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pick finished goods throughout the warehouse according to sales order ship lists.
  • Receive, unpack, verify, label, and distribute goods and supplies to the appropriate locations.
  • Fill requisitions for goods and materials.
  • Maintain and verify records for supplies received and dispensed.
  • Coordinate with shipping companies and internal departments when preparing shipments.
  • Educate user departments regarding shipping requirements.
  • Assist with preparing goods and equipment for shipment.
  • Move individual drums weighing approximately 420 pounds using dollies.
  • Move pallets containing up to four drums, with a combined weight of approximately 1,800 pounds, using an electric pallet jack or forklift.
  • Lift and position pumps weighing approximately 50–80 pounds several times per day, using assistance or mechanical aid as needed.
  • Operate material-handling equipment, including dollies, pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • Perform physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Maintain records of delayed delivery requests and notify the appropriate supervisor of materials or goods that are not on schedule.
  • Keep logbooks current to support optimum material flow.
  • Review inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Report inventory shortages to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Exercise care when handling materials, drums, pumps, and other equipment.
  • Receive and greet visitors as needed.
  • Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to management.
  • Complete applicable administrative or business-related tasks remotely when authorized and operationally appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience.
  • Ability to read and follow departmental procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and contribute to team goals.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment and use mechanical aids to move heavy materials.
  • Ability to work on-site as required for warehouse, inventory, shipping, receiving, and material-handling duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of forklift-driving experience.
  • Previous manufacturing or materials-management experience.
  • Experience handling drums, pumps, pallets, or other industrial materials.
  • Experience with JD Edwards, shop-floor management systems, quality systems, or nonconformance systems.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical aid as needed.
  • Ability to lift and handle pumps weighing approximately 50–80 pounds several times per day.
  • Ability to move 420-pound drums with dollies and pallets weighing approximately 1,800 pounds with an electric pallet jack or forklift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand motions, grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to perform occasional overhead work.
  • Ability to work in a stressful or fast-paced environment.
  • Weekend work may occasionally be required.
  • Work is performed in a naturally and environmentally controlled warehouse area.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required for physical warehouse and material-handling duties.
  • Remote work, when applicable, may be available for designated administrative responsibilities based on business needs and supervisor approval.

Safety Requirements

  • Forklift and powered industrial vehicle safety requirements apply.
  • Safety shoes are required.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
  • The position may involve vehicle-operation hazards and physical hazards, including work at heights greater than six feet.
  • Employees must follow all applicable workplace safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Employees must use proper lifting techniques and mechanical assistance when handling heavy drums, pallets, pumps, and equipment.
  • All material-handling activities must be performed in accordance with established procedures and training requirements.
