This position will be located in: Amarillo, TX Position based out of Amarillo TX but will eventually travel to other branch locations within Area 31. Abilene TXLubbock TX Ardmore OKBuda TX

Pay Range:

Job Summary

The Fleet Specialist serves as the regional fleet subject matter expert, partnering with branch and regional leadership to improve fleet performance, strengthen compliance programs, and drive safety initiatives. The position analyzes fleet operations, evaluates performance trends, and develops recommendations that support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strategic business objectives. Acting as a liaison between the Regional Fleet Manager, branch administrators, and drivers, the Fleet Specialist promotes consistency, operational efficiency, and a strong safety culture across all assigned locations.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Provides hands-on training for branch administrators and drivers on fleet systems including Geotab, Lytx, Descartes, Fleetio, and Samba Safety.
  • Evaluates driver, vehicle, and branch fleet operations to identify operational risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for process improvement, recommending corrective actions to leadership.
  • Analyzes driver performance data and develops targeted improvement plans to enhance safety performance, reduce risk exposure, and support operational objectives based on Lytx data and scorecards.
  • Advises branch leadership on driver qualification, onboarding, training, and retention practices to support workforce readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluates fleet maintenance performance, asset utilization trends, and lifecycle data, recommending actions that improve reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Supports branch teams in maintaining compliance with company and DOT standards, including tracking driver license and medical card renewals.
  • Analyzes fleet, telematics, and safety performance metrics from Geotab and Lytx to identify trends, evaluate operational effectiveness, and recommend strategic actions that improve safety, compliance, and productivity.
  • Partners with area leadership and the Regional Fleet Manager to identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices.
  • Provides regular updates and performance reports on fleet and driver metrics to ensure consistent operational performance.
  • Leads regional fleet improvement projects and compliance initiatives, exercising independent judgment to prioritize activities, allocate resources, and recommend solutions that support organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience, required.
  • 3+ years in fleet operations, transportation, logistics or a related field, required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) required.
  • Strong technical knowledge with fleet management tools such as Geotab, Lytx, Descartes, Fleetio and Samba Safety.
  • Requirement of a valid Class a commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations, consultative problem-solving, and effective communication with multiple levels of leadership.
  • Ability to evaluate complex operational information, identify emerging risks and trends, and develop practical solutions that improve business performance.
  • Proficiency in working effectively and cohesively with drivers, branch staff and management.
  • Promote a culture of safety.
