Data Analyst
HUB's Data Analysts provide the critical data analytics and underwriting support to our Employee Benefits Department and customers that make us a leading sales and service organization in the insurance industry. Through a robust network of resources, you will be amongst some of the industry's top talent to help guide and support our customer's needs and help them find the right solutions.
This role requires an individual who is professional, highly analytical, driven, and self-motivated. The individual will provide timely, professional, and accurate data analytics services to the Employee Benefits Department and its customers. As a Data Analyst you will be responsible for sourcing, manipulating, and formatting data, using data to formulate projections and drive negotiations, and working in partnership with a team to develop effective cost management solutions as a part of a 35-year strategic plan. This role is designed as a launchpad for early-career professionals, with structured mentorship and a defined growth path toward senior analyst and financial consulting roles.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed and accurate data analytics services on a growing block of business to Hub's clients
- Manage multiple deadlines and workflows within a fast-paced, team environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and internal communication
- Maintain proficiency extracting data from primary and secondary sources with an emphasis on driving accuracy and developing process efficiencies
- Produce client-facing reporting to include financial reporting and claims utilization, independent underwriting and renewal analysis, renewal projections, IBNR estimation, analysis of medical and pharmacy plan cost dynamics and budgeting
- Build strong knowledge of carrier products and networks, cost management solutions, and funding mechanisms
- Provide data and insight to support carrier negotiations and the overall renewal/marketing process
- Build your skill set around data analytics
- Support client service and sales by staying informed on industry trends
- Actively engage in and support training and development opportunities
Qualifications
- BA/BS required, preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related field
- 1-3 years of professional experience (internships included) in data analysis, finance, or a related field; insurance or employee benefits exposure is a plus but not required.
- Strong in analytics, mathematics, problem-solving and negotiation skill sets
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel as well as other MS Office products
- Experience or familiarity with data warehouse and business intelligence environments (e.g., SQL, Snowflake, Power BI) is a plus
- Comfort learning and working with AI-assisted analytics tools (e.g., Claude) is a plus
- Ability to present benefits data to key stakeholders, including HR teams, executives, and clients.
- Must be detail-oriented, well-organized and have the ability to manage a high-volume workload with competing demands
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Hybrid work schedule; requires a minimum of three in-office days per week at our Scottsdale, AZ location.
