Job description

Facilities And Logistics Specialist

The role involves overseeing the logistics, maintenance, and operational efficiency of all training props, equipment, and grounds. Responsibilities include developing preventative maintenance programs for SCBA equipment, conducting repairs on equipment and props, coordinating logistics with the training staff, and operating heavy machinery daily. Supervisory responsibility: None

Essential duties and responsibilities include demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of the District's rules, policies, and procedures that pertain to the Training Division specifically and the District generally, developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with District employees, volunteers, retirees, reserves, residents, other governmental entities, and the community, working well in a progressive, team-oriented environment, having a positive attitude and being a self-starter, proficiency with logistics software or comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, ability to effectively use computers and software, including but not limited to the district's records management system and Microsoft Office programs, strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve logistical challenges efficiently, effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments, managing the department's SCBA program ensuring certification, repairs, compliance with warranty, recalls, and documentation, overseeing the department's SCBA compressors, ensuring compliance with service contracts and NFPA regulations, coordinating and scheduling annual hydro tests for air bottles to be NFPA compliant, ensuring that training buildings are maintained and certified for compliance with NFPA standards for burn buildings, ability to arrange props and materials needed for departmental training functions, both in-house and for other agencies using the facilities, repairing and maintaining all equipment and training props, including but not limited to all training buildings, ventilation props, car props, SCBA washer, air trailer, etc., developing and maintaining an inventory system for consumable supplies and fixed assets within the training division, coordinating academy logistics and needs with the direction of the Training Captain and Training Coordinator, ordering supplies for training needs based on instructions from the Training Captain or the Training Coordinator, managing and maintaining the PSTrax platform inventory system, acquiring training vehicles and establishing relationships with heavy wrecker and salvage yard businesses, processing requests for training equipment, ensuring training facility grounds including Station 25 drill ground are clean and well-maintained, which includes controlling weeds, sweeping the track, and plowing snow, maintaining and developing replacement cycles for all training equipment and tools and maintaining the inventory of all training Connex boxes, maintaining accurate records of maintenance, warranties, purchases, and inventory forecasts, receiving, inspecting, and stocking incoming equipment and supplies, organizing and maintaining inventory storage areas for accessibility and efficiency, pulling and preparing items for delivery based on operational needs, coordinating and managing the maintenance, fueling, and cleaning of all training vehicles, coordinating snow removal efforts with the training captain and training center staff, training to serve as a backup for the Quartermaster and participating in annual mask fit testing, and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications and certification requirements include a high school diploma or G.E.D., minimum 5 years' experience in fire service, construction management, and/or facilities management, a valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record, strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, proficiency in computer software used for project management and reporting, ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, willingness and ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying conditions and temperatures, ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally, and being detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Preferred qualifications include an associate or bachelor's degree in facilities, construction, fire science, or related field, experience in municipal or emergency services, certified in machinery operations specific to Bobcat/Skid Steer and Telehandlers, and certified as an SCBA Tech I. The Facilities and Logistics Specialist will be issued a cell phone for business use.
