Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Kalon Executive Search is looking for a Chief Commercial Officer on behalf of an established U.S.-based contract manufacturer serving the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, consumer health, and nutrition industries.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially driven, relationship-oriented executive who knows the industry, has an established network, and has a proven ability to create and close significant new business.
Our client has built a strong reputation through long-standing customer relationships, manufacturing expertise, quality, regulatory compliance, and reliable service to leading brands across the health and wellness marketplace. The organization is entering an exciting next phase of growth and is looking for a CCO who can help accelerate that trajectory.
This is not a traditional corporate sales leadership role.
The ideal candidate will be a true business builder and rainmaker who can combine strategic commercial leadership with hands-on business development. You will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy while personally leveraging your industry relationships to open doors, build executive-level relationships, identify high-value opportunities, negotiate major accounts, and close meaningful new business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the commercial organization, build a high-performing sales infrastructure, and play a significant role in the company's next stage of growth.
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy focused on significant revenue and profitable growth.
- Personally identify, develop, and close major new accounts across dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, consumer health, functional nutrition, and related industries.
- Leverage an established network of senior-level industry relationships to create new business opportunities.
- Build and execute a strategic target-account program focused on high-value brands and retailers.
- Expand existing customer relationships through additional products, formats, packaging, and manufacturing opportunities.
- Drive new business across capabilities including powders, stick packs, tablets, capsules, gummies, bottling, packaging, and related CDMO services.
- Develop and manage a disciplined sales pipeline, forecasting process, and commercial KPIs.
- Partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure opportunities align with manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and profitability objectives.
- Develop pricing and commercial strategies that balance growth, margins, capacity utilization, and long-term customer value.
- Build, recruit, and lead a high-performing commercial organization as the company scales.
- Develop a network of experienced independent sales representatives, brokers, agents, and business-development partners.
- Represent the organization at key industry trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and strategic business-development events.
What We're Looking For:
- 15+ years of progressive commercial, sales, business-development, or executive leadership experience in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, consumer health, functional foods/beverages, pharmaceuticals, or a closely related industry.
- Significant experience selling contract manufacturing/CDMO services.
- A demonstrated track record of generating substantial new revenue through major customer acquisition.
- Strong relationships with decision-makers at national brands, retailers, consumer health companies, nutrition companies, or other significant industry customers.
- A proven ability to personally originate, develop, negotiate, and close significant commercial opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, product development, quality, regulatory, packaging, commercialization, and supply-chain considerations.
- Experience building and managing internal sales teams and/or independent sales networks.
- Strong understanding of pricing, margins, forecasting, CRM/pipeline management, and commercial performance.
- Exceptional executive-level communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
You know how to get in front of the right decision-makers, turn relationships into opportunities, and turn opportunities into long-term customer partnerships. You are equally comfortable developing the commercial strategy in the boardroom and getting on the phone with a prospective customer to move a deal forward. Most importantly, you understand that successful CDMO growth is about more than selling manufacturing capacity — it's about building trust, credibility, and long-term partnerships with customers.
The CCO will have meaningful influence over:
- Commercial strategy
- Major customer acquisition
- Revenue growth
- Sales organization development
- Strategic account expansion
- Independent sales partnerships
- Pricing and commercial structure
- Long-term market positioning
For the right executive, this is an opportunity to build, not simply manage — and to have a direct impact on the growth and evolution of an established CDMO platform.
Compensation: $250,000 plus bonus and benefits
