Senior Network Security Engineer

Salary: $150,958 - 170,605 per year

Requirements:

• We require at least 6 years of network security experience.
• We are looking for deep hands-on expertise with enterprise security platforms and tools such as Cisco Firepower NGFW/WSA, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR/EDR, CrowdStrike, ExtraHop, and ForeScout.
• We need strong knowledge of Azure, Microsoft 365 security controls, IAM, Conditional Access, and cloud security monitoring.
• We expect experience with SIEM and SOAR capabilities, including KQL, Logic Apps, automation rules, playbooks, analytics rules, and security workflows.
• We value a solid background in network security technologies such as next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, secure web solutions, and network monitoring.
• We require familiarity with endpoint security, threat hunting, security monitoring, and Linux-based enterprise environments.
• We need experience supporting hybrid environments and enterprise security infrastructure.
• We require the ability to support federal logging and event management requirements, including OMB M-21-31 and OMB M-26-14.
• We are seeking someone able to provide technical leadership, mentor other engineers, and drive security engineering initiatives.
• We require the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support incidents, migrations, and major upgrades.
• We are looking for strong documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and technical standards.
• We require U.S. citizenship and eligibility for an active Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We provide senior-level engineering, administration, troubleshooting, and Level 3 support for enterprise security platforms.
• We lead and mentor the ESOC Security Engineering team while overseeing platform health, operational performance, incident support, and continuous improvement.
• We own the full security technology lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, configuration, integration, upgrades, migrations, optimization, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
• We design, implement, and maintain Azure and Microsoft 365 security controls, including monitoring, IAM, policy enforcement, conditional access, threat detection, and incident response.
• We develop and maintain security automation and orchestration using Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Logic Apps, automation rules, and playbooks.
• We integrate cloud, network, endpoint, identity, and enterprise security services into Microsoft Sentinel for centralized monitoring, analytics, alerting, and response.
• We create and maintain SIEM use cases, analytics rules, dashboards, workbooks, connectors, and automated response workflows.
• We establish technical standards, engineering procedures, configuration baselines, and operational best practices for security architecture and engineering.
• We plan, prioritize, and execute security engineering projects while balancing operational needs, risk, roadmaps, and organizational priorities.
• We coordinate security initiatives across the SOC, network engineering, cloud engineering, infrastructure, identity, and other technology teams.
• We troubleshoot complex security infrastructure issues and perform root-cause analysis across network, endpoint, cloud, identity, and SIEM technologies.
• We support enterprise security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and overall security posture improvement.
• We develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, operational runbooks, and security engineering standards.
• We evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies and recommend solutions that improve visibility, resilience, automation, and operational efficiency.
• We provide technical guidance during security incidents, platform migrations, major upgrades, and enterprise security architecture efforts.

We are hiring a Senior Network Security Engineer in Washington, DC for a hybrid schedule of 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. This is a full-time role with benefits, offering a pay range of $150,957.81 to $170,605.11 per year.
