CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Director of Technical Learning & Engineering Development for an exciting direct-hire opportunity with a fast-growing North Texas manufacturing and technology organization.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who can teach—not simply a training professional who can learn engineering.

This is a unique opportunity for a degreed Electrical Engineer or highly accomplished electrical engineering subject-matter expert who has deep hands-on knowledge of industrial control panels, switchgear, UL 508A, UL 891, and UL-listed electrical equipment and has successfully transferred that expertise to others through classroom instruction, technical training, mentoring, or structured engineering education.

The person selected for this role will help build an internal technology and engineering university from the ground up, including a dedicated technical training lab, engineering curriculum, hands-on instruction, assessments, certification and competency paths, and technical development programs.

The ideal candidate has spent significant time around the design, engineering, construction, testing, certification, or manufacturing of electrical panels and switchgear and understands what it takes to build compliant, high-quality electrical equipment.

Just as importantly, this individual must be able to stand in front of a classroom of engineers and technicians and teach what they know.
The Opportunity
This is not an opportunity to inherit someone else's established training program.

It is an opportunity to build the university yourself.

You will take years of electrical engineering and manufacturing knowledge and turn it into a structured technical learning environment capable of developing engineers, technicians, panel builders, and other technical professionals.

You will work directly with engineering and manufacturing leadership to determine what employees need to know, how competency should be measured, and how complex electrical engineering concepts can be taught effectively in both classroom and hands-on lab environments.

The company is currently located in Denton, Texas and is preparing to move into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Lewisville designed around technology, innovation, collaboration, and an exceptional employee experience.
Responsibilities

• Build and lead the company's internal electrical engineering and technology university from the ground up.
• Help design, develop, and utilize a dedicated hands-on electrical technical training lab and classroom environment.
• Develop and deliver technical instruction covering the design, construction, assembly, testing, inspection, and application of industrial electrical equipment.
• Develop training related to industrial control panels, electrical panels, switchgear, power distribution equipment, and UL-listed electrical equipment.
• Serve as a technical authority and instructor on UL 508A, UL 891, and applicable UL requirements and standards relevant to the organization's products and manufacturing environment.
• Translate UL requirements, electrical engineering principles, engineering standards, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes into practical instruction employees can understand and apply.
• Personally deliver engaging instructor-led classroom and hands-on technical training to engineers, technicians, panel builders, manufacturing employees, and other technical professionals.
• Teach employees not simply what a standard or procedure requires, but why it matters and how to apply it in an actual engineering and manufacturing environment.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing SMEs to capture institutional knowledge and convert it into repeatable, scalable curriculum.
• Develop technical learning paths for employees at different levels of electrical and engineering proficiency.
• Create technical documentation, instructor materials, student materials, lab exercises, assessments, practical demonstrations, and competency evaluations.
• Establish methods for evaluating employees' understanding and practical application of electrical engineering and manufacturing concepts.
• Develop structured training around engineering processes, manufacturing methods, efficiencies, quality, safety, best practices, and standardized ways of working.
• Identify technical skill gaps across engineering and manufacturing teams and create programs to address them.
• Establish systems for tracking employee training, competency, completion, qualification, and program effectiveness.
• Continuously update curriculum as UL standards, electrical technologies, products, manufacturing processes, and business requirements evolve.
• Help develop a culture in which technical knowledge is documented, taught, measured, and continuously improved.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline strongly preferred.
• Significant professional experience in electrical engineering, electrical equipment manufacturing, industrial controls, power distribution, switchgear, panel building, or a closely related technical environment.
• Extensive working knowledge of UL 508A and UL 891.
• Strong knowledge of UL-listed electrical equipment and the requirements associated with designing, manufacturing, inspecting, or maintaining compliant products.
• Demonstrated technical expertise involving industrial control panels, electrical panels, switchgear, or related power distribution equipment.
• Experience working directly with the design, construction, assembly, testing, inspection, or manufacturing of electrical equipment.
• Demonstrated experience teaching technical subject matter in a classroom, lab, manufacturing, engineering, or structured instructional environment.
• Ability to command the attention and respect of an audience of engineers, technicians, and experienced technical professionals.
• Ability to explain complex electrical engineering concepts in a way that is accurate, practical, concise, and understandable.
• Experience creating or contributing to technical training materials, engineering documentation, work instructions, technical standards, or curriculum.
• Strong understanding of how engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements translate into actual manufacturing practices.
• Ability to evaluate whether an employee can apply technical knowledge, rather than simply complete a course or pass a written test.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and leadership teams.
