Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician / Staffing Float provides essential patient care support across various units within a long-term acute care facility. This role demands flexibility, clinical proficiency, and adherence to strict attendance policies to ensure continuous patient care delivery.
Responsibilities:
Assist patients with ambulation, feeding, turning/repositioning, linen changes, mouth care, and incontinence care.
Obtain vital signs, perform 12-lead EKG/ECG, conduct finger sticks, and monitor intake/output.
Collect sterile specimens, perform phlebotomy, and support infection-control practices.
Recognize and report abnormal vital signs and equipment issues, ensuring prompt intervention.
Facilitate safe patient transfers, transport, and accurate specimen labeling.
Maintain professionalism and compliance with hospital policies, including infection control and equipment use.
Qualifications:
Require 2 years of Patient Care Technician experience, with acute care background.
Hold current BLS, PCT certification, and Basic EKG Exam certification; CPCT/A preferred.
Demonstrate proficiency with telemonitoring and the Cerner charting system.
Show ability to float within scope, adapting to various units as needed.
Possess a valid Maryland or Compact nursing license.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with strict attendance policies.
