Requirements:
- We expect a bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- We are looking for 5+ years of practical experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or security operations, ideally within the financial services sector.
- We need experience supporting internal and external IT audits tied to cybersecurity policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
- We prefer prior exposure to financial institution security standards such as FFIEC, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, or NIST 800-53.
- Strong knowledge of security assessments, risk analysis, SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN security, endpoint protection, DLP, WAF, vulnerability management, IAM, and cloud security is expected.
- We prefer familiarity with CISSP, CEH, GSEC, CISA, or Security+ certifications, or progress toward them.
- Experience with cloud security environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is valued.
- Familiarity with security automation and scripting using Python, PowerShell, or Bash is a plus.
- Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and best-practice implementation is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- We monitor security alerts and logs through SIEM tools to identify and respond to threats.
- We investigate security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and escalate issues when needed.
- We help develop and execute the Incident Response Plan, including tabletop exercises.
- We analyze phishing attempts, malware activity, and unauthorized access events.
- We maintain and update security playbooks and standard operating procedures.
- We support internal and external IT audits by gathering evidence, logs, and documentation.
- We assist with User Access Reviews to reinforce least-privilege access.
- We partner with IT teams to document vulnerability management, patching, and security controls.
- We help ensure alignment with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and FFIEC guidance.
- We provide auditors with details on log retention, incident handling, and monitoring processes.
- We support third-party vendor security reviews and due diligence assessments.
- We run vulnerability scans and work with IT teams to remediate findings.
- We perform risk assessments, identify security gaps, and recommend mitigation measures.
- We help ensure patch management policies are followed and updates are implemented.
- We assist in managing endpoint security tools such as EDR, anti-malware, and application whitelisting.
- We conduct security assessments and recommend improvements to strengthen controls across the organization.
- We collaborate with IT teams on firewall settings, IDS/IPS rules, and VPN security configurations.
- We assess DLP, WAF, and EDR tools to improve overall security resilience.
- We support application security reviews, including secure coding practices and vulnerability scan analysis.
- We help ensure security best practices are applied across cloud and on-premises environments.
- We work with IT and security teams to improve security controls and architecture.
- We prepare reports for leadership on incidents, audit results, and security trends.
- We stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and financial industry security developments.
