Job description

Performs functions directed towards successfully and efficiently meeting manufacturing goals for customer orders, by maintaining the facility and equipment in good repair and in working order so as to eliminate down time.

Pay Range: $96,975 - $161,624

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.
Must meet all requirements for Mechanics without direct assistance or supervision

2.
Must have knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform all preventative maintenance

3.
Maintain and repair physical structure of building, equipment and general facilities

4.
Install new equipment and assists with new construction projects

5.
Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on equipment

6.
Plan, fabricate and install non-mechanical equipment (such as stands, tables, etc.)

7.
Utilize a Maintenance Program and other tools for maintenance efficiency

8.
Keep detailed records on work orders, down time, maintenance projects and materials purchased

9.
Perform work to 600 volt electrical systems

10.
Able to weld with good precision utilizing a heli-arc, tig welder and plasma cutter

11.
Licensed to operate both stand up and sit down forklift

12.
Monitor, complete and update PM program and Idle Assets Database

13.
Has responsibility for making recommendations in hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, transfer, and compensation decisions.

14.
Conduct employee training and champion the department’s continuous improvement

15.
Schedule and assign work to maintenance team member/s to meet daily production requirements

16.
Comply / enforce established standards, procedures, and expectations for quality, safety and sanitation

17.
Observes the worker to ensure compliance with standards

18.
Maintains labor cost control by completing tasks on straight time, ensuring proper manning, and managing projects to ensure efficiency in department.

19.
Chair weekly department safety meetings and maintains an open dialog with all employees

20.
Completes all required communication log and approves all payroll time cards

21.
Be familiar with all company policies and procedures and the local practices of such; uphold/enforce them in order to maintain fairness and consistency of treatment.

Administer employee appraisals and salary reviews and provide employees with feedback.

23.
Assist employees in solving work related issues; providing employee guidance/direction, counsel and motivation.

24.
Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

Must follow all Plant and Safety Rules

Cooperates in maintaining a safe and respectful work environment

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the above functions satisfactorily.
The required levels of knowledge, skill and ability are described in greater detail in the following sections.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Technical Trade / College degree or equivalent and/or minimum of ten 10 years manufacturing maintenance experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in a food manufacturing environment and with 5 years minimum in a supervisory/exempt role.
Must successfully complete on the job training including being able to learn and apply knowledge of production processes, raw material, and finished product requirements and specifications.
Must have an electro/mechanical aptitude applicable to basic machinery maintenance and must posses a current forklift driver license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Verbal and written communication skills are of importance as this position requires frequent and effective communication with plant and senior level managers, supervisors, other employees as well as senior management.
Must also posses the ability to give thorough instructions and communicate effectively with department employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to take / read / calculate or otherwise measure temperatures, time and space (English and metric systems).

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to solve common problems in a number of concrete standard situations; to give instructions; to create or interpret various reports; to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to comfortably operate standard office equipment, including proficient operation of desktop computer applications/operating systems; welding equipment; presses; power tools and other equipment/machinery used in the maintenance or repair of industrial equipment.
Must posses a current forklift driver license.
