Senior Backend Software Developer

Salary: $190,000 - 190,000 per year

Requirements:

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship
• Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience
• At least 7 years of software development experience, including substantial hands-on backend development
• Strong experience building REST APIs, backend services, and microservices
• Professional experience with modern backend languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, C#/.NET, Node.js, or similar technologies
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data models, application data access, and integrations with enterprise data services or external systems
• Experience with Git and modern software development, build, and source-control practices
• Understanding of software architecture, application security, debugging, automated testing, and performance optimization
• Ability to independently investigate and solve complex technical problems
• Experience collaborating across engineering, product, platform, and stakeholder teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Helpful experience includes AWS, Docker or Kubernetes, distributed architectures, complex datasets, messaging or event-driven systems, DevSecOps, CI/CD, GitLab, infrastructure as code, application security, observability, national security mission systems, architectural standards, and mentoring developers
• Software development experience of 7 years is required
• Top Secret security clearance is required

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications, services, and RESTful APIs
• Build scalable microservices and distributed application components
• Translate product and mission requirements into reliable, maintainable software solutions
• Integrate applications with databases, enterprise data services, APIs, and external systems
• Help define backend architecture, service interfaces, data models, and development standards
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, code reviews, and troubleshooting
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
• Collaborate with front-end developers, platform engineers, product owners, and technical and mission stakeholders
• Develop and maintain code using Git-based workflows
• Support automated testing, build processes, CI/CD pipelines, and software releases
• Develop and deploy applications in AWS, containerized, and cloud-hosted environments
• Contribute to Agile planning, development, testing, and delivery
• Diagnose complex application, data, and integration issues and develop practical solutions
• Mentor developers and promote effective software engineering practices
• Design APIs, troubleshoot integrations, discuss architecture, and turn complex technical and mission requirements into software solutions
