Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN UP Specialty: Cardiac Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years applicable experience License: RN license in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Fluent in reading, writing, and comprehending English - Basic computer knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browsing - Multicultural sensitivity - Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. You will promote the use of evidence-based practice through nursing protocols and procedures. You will assess patients' status through interview, observation, and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes. You will develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with patients and families. You will implement appropriate interventions identified in the care plan to achieve expected patient outcomes. You will systematically evaluate and document patients' progress toward expected outcomes on an ongoing basis throughout your shift. You will modify the plan of care based on evaluations and complete required documentation, including patient charts and event reports. You will demonstrate professional accountability for your practice by seeking resources and continuing self-development. You will acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. You will promote the professional development of yourself and team members. You will share clinical knowledge through normal teaching and in response to the learning needs of others. You will demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient handling issues. You will demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through the appropriate use of lift equipment. You will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing and perform patient bedside lab testing in compliance with medical provider orders and hospital procedures. You will coordinate interdisciplinary care by collaborating with team members and utilizing additional resources when necessary. You will analyze clinical situations systematically and act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes. You will recognize the need for assistance and utilize resources such as physician consultation in a timely manner. You will demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure problems are resolved effectively. You will be able to assume the assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management tasks with some turnover in assignments. You will consistently prioritize work based on patient condition changes and unanticipated interruptions. You will identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs. You will collaborate with the healthcare team in organizing tasks and activities for patient care according to the care plan. You will work with other team members in delegating tasks appropriately. You will provide goal-focused shift reports and advocate for patients with physicians when necessary. You will utilize communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes. You will choose appropriate communication styles when interacting with others and provide and accept constructive feedback from peers. You will assess and select teaching strategies that are appropriate to patient and family needs, adapting them based on the patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
