Industrial Automation Maintenance Mechanic — Conveyor & Packaging Systems

30–45 Day Assignment: Keep Automation Running Smoothly
Imagine arriving at a high-throughput distribution site, rolling up your sleeves, and bringing a conveyor line back to peak performance before most people have had their first coffee. As an experienced Maintenance Technician (level equivalent to Technician II), you'll travel to facilities around the country and keep automated packaging and material handling systems humming.
What You'll Do
- Lead with safety: follow and reinforce established procedures to promote a zero-incident environment.
- Execute and document preventative maintenance on material handling equipment (MHE).
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues across systems such as:
- Conveyor belts
- Motors
- Photo-eyes and sensors
- Relays
- Other electrical and mechanical components
- Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment.
- Partner effectively with Operations teams and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.
- Track, organize, and store parts, tools, and inventory for the department.
- Coach and mentor junior maintenance technicians on best practices.
Travel & Project Details
- Temporary project: approximately 30–45 days.
- Travel requirement: at least 80%, often for extended stretches.
Physical Demands
To succeed, you'll be comfortable with:
- Standing and walking for up to 12-hour shifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Moving equipment, parts, and tools up to 49 pounds.
- Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
- Lifting parts and tools averaging 20 pounds, with occasional lifts up to 49 pounds.
- Eye/hand and foot coordination.
- Manual dexterity activities including picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and foot-pedal operation.
- Repetitive wrist flexion and rotation.
