SEO Strategist

Job Title: SEO StrategistDepartment: MarketingReports to: Marketing ManagerWork Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, some nights and weekendsPay Scale: $34.00-$40.00 per hourPosition Summary: The SEO Strategist owns organic search strategy and its day-to-day execution for an assigned portfolio of client accounts, across both traditional search engines and AI-driven answer and generative search experiences. This is a hybrid role: the Strategist sets content and targeting direction and performs the hands-on on-page and technical work required to deliver it, including title tags, meta descriptions, internal linking, schema markup and site structure. The role carries equal responsibility for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), structuring content, entities and structured data so client brands are surfaced, cited and accurately represented in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode and in AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. The Strategist serves as the SEO point of contact for their accounts, translating performance data, including AI visibility and citation metrics, into plain language for clients with varying levels of SEO fluency, and works closely with website production, creative, development and coaching teams to clarify, interpret and implement strategic organic search, AEO and GEO concepts.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or a related field preferred; High School Diploma or GED required4+ years of SEO experience, including hands-on on-page and technical execution2+ years of hands-on AEO and GEO experience, including optimizing content and structured data for AI Overviews, AI Mode and AI assistant responsesProject management experienceExperience managing or mentoring small teamsDemonstrated expertise in Local SEO, directory-style websites and service-based businessesQualifications desired:Proven ability in keyword research, rank tracking and identifying high-intent content topicsExperience presenting performance results and recommendations directly to clientsDemonstrated proficiency using LLM tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok in day-to-day marketing research and executionWorking knowledge of schema markup, entity optimization and AI crawler management as applied to AEO and GEOExperience tracking and reporting AI search visibility, including brand citations and mentions in generative answers
