Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior .NET/SQL Technical Lead with 15+ years of IT experience to support a major tolling modernization program. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, .NET/C#, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), ETL, and application modernization.

The Technical Lead will provide technical leadership while working closely with the PM/Scrum Master, SME, developers, QA, DevOps, Cloud, and Business Analyst teams. The role will focus on modernizing database architecture, developing migration solutions, supporting .NET APIs, and aligning SQL schemas with microservice boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical design discussions involving microservices, database modernization, and API integration.

• Provide hands-on SQL Server/T-SQL development, including schemas, stored procedures, views, indexing, and performance tuning.

• Support .NET/C# backend and API development and data-access patterns.

• Lead and mentor senior engineering resources and provide technical direction.

• Work closely with the PM/Scrum Master and technical SME to support project execution.

• Design and implement Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for data migration and ETL workloads.

• Support modernization of SQL databases and align database schemas with microservice boundaries.

• Participate in code reviews, technical documentation reviews, and architecture discussions.

• Collaborate with .NET, SQL, BA, QA, DevOps, Cloud, and CAB teams.

• Support compliance requirements, including PCI, data retention, and secure data handling.

• Contribute to Agile delivery processes and technical decision-making.

• Ensure migration and modernization activities meet project timelines and audit requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of overall IT experience; 15+ years strongly preferred.

• 7+ years of SQL Server development experience.

• 5+ years of .NET/C# backend development experience.

• 3 5+ years of technical lead experience guiding engineering teams.

• 3+ years of application/database modernization or migration experience.

• 3+ years of Azure SQL experience in IaaS VM environments.

• 3+ years of Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipeline development and ETL experience.

• 3+ years supporting Agile delivery teams.

• Strong experience with SQL database design, optimization, performance tuning, and T-SQL development.

• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in state government or transportation-related environments.

• Experience working in regulated or audited environments.

• Experience with microservices architecture and API-based solutions.

• Experience with tolling, transportation, or other large-scale modernization programs.

• Experience with PCI compliance, data retention, and secure data handling.
