Job Title: Histotechnologist Profession: Medical Laboratory Specialty: Histotechnologist Duration: 13 months Shift: Variable Shift Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 0 years minimum License: BLS Certifications: Registry as Histology Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent Must-Have: Experience with LIS and HIS computer systems Experience with tissue processor, embedding center, automatic stainer, and automated coverslipper Experience with analytic balance, automated microtome, microwave, microscope, telephone, tissue floatation bath, volumetric glassware, cryostat, and recycler Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Description: The position requires less than one year of experience. Candidates must have a BLS license. Candidates should possess a registry as a Histology Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or an equivalent certification. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and hospital information systems (HIS) is essential. Candidates must be proficient in using various laboratory equipment including tissue processors, embedding centers, automatic strainers, and automated coverslippers. Familiarity with analytic balances, automated microtomes, microwaves, microscopes, telephones, tissue flotation baths, volumetric glassware, cryostats, and recyclers is required. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
