Position Summary

Full Tilt Data, LLC is looking for a Data Architect to help deliver enterprise data and integration solutions for a federal government program. In this role, you will lead a team of data professionals, create high-level architectural specifications, solve systems integration and compatibility challenges, and guide the design and development of new software and major revisions for the customer. You will also research and assess project feasibility and present recommendations to management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine data structures across all supported environments, including an AWS-based data lake, and resolve performance issues.
  • Create high-level architectural specifications and resolve systems integration and compatibility issues across platforms, data sources, and interfaces.
  • Design and maintain data governance processes, including data catalog, provenance, lineage, data quality metrics, and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Develop and review complex SQL and Python code and serve as the program's data subject matter expert.
  • Design and support ETL/ELT pipelines, data streams from multiple sources, APIs, and data intake and submission processes.
  • Support analysts and data consumers in Databricks, including creating curated data sets, managing access, and applying tags that enable AI and analytics functionality.
  • Ensure all data processes meet client security and compliance requirements.
  • Assess the risk and impact of planned system changes, both within and outside the program.
  • Evaluate complex data needs and vendor options, and design and build proof-of-concept solutions.
  • Contribute technical content to proposals and provide technical direction within Agile/SAFe development teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or software engineering.
  • Hands-on experience designing data structures and solutions in AWS, including data lake environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, including code review and performance tuning.
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance, including cataloging, lineage, data quality, and access controls.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data integration, and API design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, including supervising direct reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical recommendations to management.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check equivalent to a Federal Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, and PySpark, including access management and Unity Catalog.
  • Experience supporting federal government contracts.
  • Experience supporting analytics or research data environments.
  • Experience writing technical proposal content and developing proofs of concept.
  • Familiarity with federal security frameworks such as FISMA, NIST 800-53, or FedRAMP.
  • Preferred certifications: SAFe Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Data Engineer, Databricks Certifications, or CDMP.

The salary range provided represents the estimated compensation for new hires in this position, applicable across all locations. Actual offers may vary based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
