The Opportunity

SHADE Industries is seeking an experienced Concrete Footing & Structural Foundation Lead (Civil & Site Work) to direct site preparation, caisson drilling, excavation, and structural concrete footing installations across Phoenix and regional project sites.

In this hands-on field leadership role, you will operate light-to-medium excavation machinery, set rebar reinforcement cages, manage concrete pours, and set precision anchor bolt templates that form the structural foundation for massive architectural tensioned fabric structures. Leading a dedicated site crew of 1 to 4 employees, you will ensure grade elevations and footing depths comply strictly with civil engineering drawings and municipal building codes. If you bring a strong background in concrete footings, equipment operation, and crew leadership, SHADE Industries provides top-tier hourly pay, daily per diems, and a structured four-day workweek with consistent three-day weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foundation Site Leadership: Direct daily site operations for field crews (1 to 4 members), managing caisson drilling, excavation layout, and deep concrete footing pours.
  • Heavy Equipment & Excavation Operation: Safely operate mini-excavators, skid steers, augers, and equipment transport trailers to execute site prep, trenching, and foundation digs.
  • Formwork, Rebar & Concrete Execution: Set up concrete forms, assemble and tie steel rebar reinforcement cages, manage transit-mixed/pumped concrete pours, and set anchor bolt templates to exact engineering tolerances.
  • Engineering & Elevation Literacy: Read, interpret, and build directly from structural engineering drawings, civil site plans, soil reports, and grade elevation markers.
  • Inspection & Field Coordination: Coordinate on-site timelines with project managers, general contractors, site superintendents, and municipal building inspectors to ensure smooth inspection sign-offs.
  • Safety & OSHA Enforcement: Enforce jobsite safety standards, heat illness prevention protocols, and strict OSHA trenching/excavation compliance across active jobsites.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

  • Civil & Concrete Tenure: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in structural concrete footings, caisson drilling, heavy excavation, or civil site preparation.
  • Equipment Mastery: Demonstrated proficiency operating skid steers, mini-excavators, augers, and towable equipment trailers.
  • Crew Leadership Track Record: Proven ability to lead small field crews, manage jobsite safety, delegate tasks, and log daily site production.
  • Driver Credentials & Mobility: Valid driver license with a clean, insurable driving record and willingness to travel for short-term regional assignments (1 to 4 days) several times per year.

Preferred

  • Specialized Trade Skills: Experience with concrete pump trucks, utility locating, or structural steel tie-ins.
  • Safety Credentials: Active OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety card, CPR/First Aid, or OSHA Trenching & Excavation credentials.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Hourly Base Pay: $24.00 to $30.00+ per hour, customized directly to equipment operation skills and concrete foundation experience.
  • Balanced Work Schedule: Four-day workweek options offering consistent three-day weekends.
  • Time Off Package: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO, 2 to 3 weeks based on tenure) plus 10 paid company holidays annually.
  • Health & Retirement Coverage: Complete Health, Dental, and Vision coverage, corporate 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, and company-paid life insurance.
  • Travel Support: 100% company-paid travel lodging, transportation, and daily per diem allowances for out-of-town deployments.
