Job Title: GIS Analyst

Position Summary
The GIS Technician/Analyst supports the Town of Addison's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program by maintaining, updating, analyzing, and distributing spatial data used by the Public Works and Engineering Department.
This position performs GIS database maintenance, map production, spatial analysis, application support, and field data collection using Trimble GPS equipment. The role includes both office and field work to ensure Town infrastructure assets are accurately mapped and maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
GIS Data Management
- Maintain and update enterprise GIS databases and geodatabases.
- Edit and manage utility, transportation, stormwater, and other municipal GIS layers.
- Perform QA/QC to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Integrate data from as-built plans, surveys, engineering drawings, GPS field collection, and departmental records.
- Maintain GIS documentation, metadata, standards, and procedures.
Field Data Collection & GPS Operations
- Collect, verify, and update asset locations using Trimble GPS equipment and mobile GIS applications.
- Conduct field inventories of water, wastewater, stormwater, streets, traffic signs, and right-of-way infrastructure.
- Process, validate, and quality-check GPS data.
- Verify asset attributes and conditions during field inspections.
- Coordinate field activities with Public Works and Engineering staff.
- Maintain GPS equipment and field collection devices.
GIS Analysis & Mapping
- Create maps, exhibits, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Perform spatial analysis to support planning, engineering, asset management, and operational decision-making.
- Produce map products for Town staff, management, Town Council, and public meetings.
GIS Application Support
- Support ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and related GIS applications.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of web maps, dashboards, mobile applications, and field data collection tools.
- Support GIS integrations with Cityworks, Survey123, permitting systems, asset management systems, and other enterprise applications.
- Provide GIS support and training to Public Works and Engineering staff.
Project Support
- Participate in GIS implementation projects and special initiatives.
- Support asset inventory, infrastructure mapping, and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, engineers, and surveyors as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- GIS principles, practices, and spatial databases.

Ability to:
- Collect accurate GPS data in the field.
- Interpret engineering plans, surveys, and as-built drawings.
- Analyze GIS and GPS data issues.

- Work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
GIS Technician
- Associate degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Two (2) years of GIS experience.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and GPS/GNSS data collection.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
GIS Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible GIS experience.
- Experience with enterprise GIS systems and spatial database management.
- Experience with Trimble GPS field data collection.
- Experience developing GIS applications, dashboards, and web maps.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- GISP certification.
- Esri technical certifications.
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Experience with Cityworks and municipal asset management systems.
- Experience with SQL Server and relational databases.
- Experience with Python, Arcade, or GIS automation.
- Knowledge of municipal utility and public works operations.
