- Full-time
Estimator | Preconstruction
If you are an Estimator who wants to do more than simply put together numbers, this is an opportunity to become a key part of the preconstruction process on some of the Bay Area's most complex and high profile construction projects.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, Project Executives, Project Managers, and Superintendents to help shape projects before they ever reach the field.
Projects range from $5M to $200M+ and span multifamily residential, commercial, aviation, infrastructure, prefab and modular construction, seismic retrofits, historic restoration, waterfront projects, and community facilities.
This is a great opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys problem solving, building relationships, analyzing projects, and having a real influence on how a project comes together.
What You'll Do
You will play a critical role throughout the preconstruction process, from initial bid evaluation through buyout and project handoff.
Evaluate bid opportunities and project documents
Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, takeoffs, and proposals
Perform quantity takeoffs and accurately build project costs
Visit jobsites to evaluate existing conditions
Analyze material, labor, subcontractor, and project costs
Develop budgets and present value engineering opportunities to owners and design teams
Review plans, specifications, and other project documents for completeness, accuracy, and constructability
Develop bid packages and detailed scopes for subcontractor trades
Build and manage subcontractor bid lists
Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor bids
Lead pre bid meetings and coordinate with trade partners
Participate in design development, owner, architect, and project team meetings
Work closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, and Superintendents to develop project schedules and logistics plans
Participate in constructability reviews and identify potential risks before construction begins
Assist with project buyout and subcontract execution
Present budget, schedule, and job cost updates to project stakeholders
Help develop and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers
What Makes This Opportunity Different
This is not a role where you are sitting behind a spreadsheet all day.
You will have direct exposure to clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and senior leadership and will be involved in decisions that can fundamentally impact the success of a project.
You will also work across a diverse range of project types, giving you the opportunity to expand your experience and build a highly valuable preconstruction skill set.
With projects ranging from $5M to more than $200M, there is plenty of opportunity to work on increasingly complex projects and continue growing your career.
