Job Description:
- Develop, implement, monitor, and support interfaces connecting healthcare organizations and EHR systems to UHIN’s health information exchange solutions
- Onboard new data sources and consumers
- Configure and maintain HL7v2, C-CDA, and HL7 FHIR interfaces
- Proactively monitor the HIE environment and troubleshoot errors to identify root causes
- Coordinate issue resolution and message reprocessing
- Serve as primary technical contact for assigned integrations with customers, vendors, and external partners
- Manage technical implementations, including activities, deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, and next steps
- Maintain interface code using development, coding, version control, documentation, and review standards
- Document processes, data flows, onboarding processes, and technical specifications
- Work with EHR/EMR vendors to connect data sources and change system settings or features
- Implement project plans and coordinate clinical systems testing, implementation, and operation
- Support migrations of interfaces and data sources between systems or platforms
- Assess interfaces and data flows and validate successful migrations
- Develop statements of work, set maintenance schedules, and support high availability
- Perform scheduled upgrades to clinical services software
- Track and report performance and uptime
- Develop testing and quality assurance processes for connectivity and data quality
- Coordinate across teams to provide high-quality service and functionality
- Use SQL for data analysis to improve data quality and completeness
- Improve maintenance, support, documentation, and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience with NextGen Mirth Connect or another enterprise integration engine
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting HL7v2 interfaces including ADT, ORU, and MDM
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting HL7 FHIR and C-CDA interfaces
- Experience working with EHR/EMR systems and understanding of the healthcare domain
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Extensive experience with connector/interface documentation and transformation documentation
- Experience with relational databases including SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Ability to independently manage assigned technical implementations
- Experience creating and maintaining interface documentation, transformations, configurations, and implementation procedures
- Mirth Connect experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Agile project management preferred
- Experience with any scripting language preferred
- Basic understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, and web services preferred
- Linux familiarity preferred
- Experience with Google BigQuery preferred
- Experience with Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) concepts and/or software preferred
- BA/BS in IT or healthcare discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or related work experience
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare and interface development
- Ability to comply with UHIN policies and procedures regarding PHI privacy and security
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of processed, stored, or accessed information
- Ability to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 20 lbs
