Responsibilities
- Internal control comprises of the organization and coordination of methods adopted within a business to safeguard its assets, check the accuracy and reliability of its accounting data, promote operational efficiency, and encourage adherence to prescribed managerial policies.
- Maintain the various chartfields and related modules that exist in Alfa's accounting system and the PeopleSoft trees, which create a hierarchical structure that visually represents a set of summarization rules for a particular field within PeopleSoft. Chartfields are used to classify accounting transactions created in subsystems or entered directly into general ledger. Alfa's chartfields include account, department, product, project, state, reinsurance code and pool code.
- Creating, maintaining and producing reports are key elements of this position. To perform well the incumbent should understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Statutory Accounting Principles for creating and maintaining the GAAP and Statutory financials for management, regulatory authorities, and other users in an accurate and timely manner with a focus on enhancing analytics and flux review within financial reporting.
- Users will look to the incumbent for functional support and problem solving of all PeopleSoft modules. The incumbent must be able to translate customer needs and direction into features, functions, products and services deliverable through the PeopleSoft technology; ensuring users can effectively use existing PeopleSoft modules for their working needs.
- Maintain and execute security processes to primarily update and maintain the PeopleSoft security profiles when the security administrator is out.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or MIS
- 1-year related experience
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- A good understanding of computer applications, with hands on experience managing systems development preferred.
- Good Project leadership skills.
- Good PC skills with proficiency in Excel.
- Visual Basic programming and SQL proficiency preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and make sound decisions.
- Good analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills
