Software Engineer IV – B-52 Modeling & Simulation
Location: Orlando, FL
Clearance: Active Secret Required
Travel: Up to 10%
About the Role
Support one of the U.S. Air Force's most significant long-term bomber training modernization efforts as a Software Engineer IV supporting the B-52 Mission Employment Trainer Family of Systems.

The program is developing high-fidelity Weapon System Trainer and Cockpit Procedures Trainer capabilities designed to remain concurrent with the evolving B-52 platform. You'll work within a sophisticated simulation ecosystem involving the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), virtualized aircraft software, and networked training infrastructure.

We're looking for an experienced software engineer who is comfortable moving beyond isolated application development and working at the intersection of software, simulation, systems integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software supporting advanced B-52 training systems.
  • Develop and maintain software using C++ and Java.
  • Support complex software and simulator integration activities.
  • Diagnose software, interface, and integration issues across distributed system environments.
  • Support integration with Joint Simulation Environment and Distributed Mission Operations infrastructure.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle from development through integration and verification.
  • Work within established Agile and SDLC processes.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines to support software development, integration, and deployment.
  • Develop and support applications operating across Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Use Git and related configuration-management/version-control tools.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineers, test engineers, software developers, and integration teams.
  • Contribute technical expertise toward resolving complex integration and performance issues.
  • Support program activities requiring travel of up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Significant experience with software integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Software development experience using C++ and Java.
  • Experience with SDLC processes and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with engineering and development tools such as Jira.
  • Experience developing on Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Git or comparable version-control tools.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to succeed within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environments (JSE).
  • Experience with Distributed Mission Operations (DMO).
  • Familiarity with JITTC-N.
  • Experience supporting military training, simulation, or defense programs.
  • Strong modeling and simulation background.
  • Experience with distributed systems and networked training environments.
  • Experience working within classified development and integration environments.
