RETS Associates has been retained by a privately held, family-owned real estate investment and development company to identify a Vice President (or Senior Vice President), Multifamily Asset Management. The position can be based remotely in a major western U.S. or Texas market with strong airport access, with Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Dallas of particular interest.
This is a rare opportunity to join a 50-plus-year-old, growing real estate investment and development firm with a sophisticated institutional investment program and deep, long-standing relationships with U.S. family offices and institutions as well as global institutional relationships with differentiating and strong Asia-based institutional relationships. The role will oversee a subset of the current portfolio of interests in over 12,000 units across 9 states. The subset consists of recently acquired multifamily investments in ~3,000 units across five states, ranging in size from 105 to 795 units each, with the largest currently under construction. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced 15-person corporate team based primarily in Honolulu and have an opportunity to add resources as the portfolio and role evolve.
For the portfolio managed, this position will oversee the day-to-day work of best-in-class 3rd-party property management teams to drive property-level performance, execute business plans and create accountability around key operating metrics. The role also owns monthly, quarterly and annual investor reporting, proactive analysis and strategic recommendations, and investor and prospective investor property tours.
Our client is seeking candidates who combine institutional-quality financial and investment acumen with a hands-on operating mentality—equally comfortable in a financial model, an investor meeting or a detailed discussion with the on-site team about NOI performance, marketing, leasing and hospitality. A high EQ, exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, low ego and sound judgment are essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are technology-forward and actively thinking about how AI can improve asset management. For the right individual, this role offers the opportunity to take significant ownership of a high-quality multifamily portfolio and grow into a broader leadership role as the firm expands its platform.
Compensation: Competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus, long-term incentive and comprehensive benefits.
