Job description
Build What Powers What’s Next
Imagine launching a next-gen EV charging hub or a precision semiconductor tool. At the heart sits a control cabinet you designed—UL 508A compliant, NEC (NFPA 70) aligned, thermally balanced, and validated through rigorous hipot, insulation resistance, and functional tests. You’ll orchestrate the journey from architecture and schematic capture to vendor build and final acceptance.
The Impact You’ll Make
- Deliver industrial control panels that meet stringent safety and quality standards.
- Translate requirements into complete schematics, layouts, and BOMs using EPLAN or comparable tools.
- Curate components: connectors, harnesses, breakers, fuses, drives, transformers, rectifiers—optimized for performance and manufacturability.
- Engineer for up to 600V AC and 2000V DC with correct protection coordination and wire sizing.
- Partner with third-party panel shops, ensuring on-time, on-spec builds and smooth acceptance.
- Collaborate with mechanical teams on enclosure selection, airflow and thermal strategy, and clean system integration.
- Contribute to DFMEAs, proactively identifying failure modes and executing mitigations.
What Sets You Up for Success
- BS in EE/ME with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
- Hands-on EPLAN (or similar) experience producing production-ready documentation.
- Proven mastery of NEC and UL 508A panel requirements.
- Experience planning and running high-voltage tests with strong safety discipline.
- Expertise in branch circuit protection coordination, conductor sizing, and power conversion.
- Experience managing external fabrication partners from design through acceptance.
- Comfort with PLM (Arena, Teamcenter), product development workflows (Jira), and requirements tools (Jama).
- Self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Experience with a UL 508A Recognized Panel Shop or UL listing processes.
- NFPA 70E certification or arc flash study execution.
- Industry exposure in industrial automation, EV charging infrastructure, energy storage, or semiconductor equipment.
- ETAP or equivalent tools for protection coordination analysis.
Where You’ll Apply Your Craft
- Core voltages: 120/208/240/480 V
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Mechanical design & engineering and precise blueprint reading
- EPLAN and related ECAD environments
Your Toolchain
- CAD: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, Pro-E / Creo, Siemens NX
- Automation: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
