About the Role:
A local insurance and financial services company serving the Greater Binghamton, New York area is seeking a tech-savvy, forward-thinking AI Agent & Automation Developer Intern to build practical AI agents, custom workflows, and automation systems for daily business operations.

This is a hands-on role focused on developing and deploying AI agents that help manage three key functions: marketing, human resources, and accounting. You will use modern large language model (LLM) APIs, agent frameworks, and automation tools to solve real business problems, improve efficiency, and support the company’s staff and customers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Marketing AI Agents: Develop agents to assist with digital marketing campaigns, paid search monitoring, lead workflows, CRM integration, performance reporting, and customer follow-up automation.
  • Human Resources AI Agents: Build tools to support recruiting workflows, applicant communications, onboarding, internal knowledge retrieval, and routine HR administration, with appropriate human oversight.
  • Accounting AI Agents: Create automations to organize financial records, categorize transactions, support reconciliations, prepare routine reports, and flag items for staff review.
  • API Integration & Automation: Connect approved AI tools to CRMs, email systems, databases, and business applications using Python, n8n, Make, webhooks, and REST APIs.
  • Knowledge Bases & RAG: Structure internal documentation for accurate retrieval using vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Testing, Security & Optimization: Test reliability, monitor agent performance, refine prompts, document workflows, and protect confidential customer, employee, and financial information.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field; students at Binghamton University, SUNY Broome, and other regional institutions are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and webhooks.

Bonus Points (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with agent frameworks such as CrewAI, LangChain, or AutoGen.
  • Experience with n8n, Make, or Zapier.
  • Exposure to vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or Supabase.
  • Interest in automation for marketing, HR, accounting, or CRM systems.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Real-world experience deploying AI agents in an operating insurance and financial services business.
  • Portfolio-worthy work across marketing, HR, and accounting workflows.
  • Flexible hours designed to accommodate a student schedule.
