Precision Metrology & CMM Quality Inspector
- Full-time
Precision Metrology & CMM Quality Inspector
Picture your day beginning at a calibrated CMM, blueprint in hand. You rotate between incoming, in-process, and final checks—validating micron-level tolerances for components destined for semiconductor tools, aircraft systems, medical devices, and other high-precision assemblies. You translate GD&T into action, document what you find with rigor, and partner with Engineering and Production to resolve issues fast. If building confidence into every part sounds like you, read on.
What You’ll Do
- Execute dimensional inspections for incoming materials, in-process work, and finished goods for precision-machined components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to determine inspection criteria and accept/reject decisions.
- Operate manual and/or programmable Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) as well as comparators and other precision equipment.
- Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and thread gauges, and related metrology tools to verify features.
- Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAI/FAIR) and generate clear, complete inspection reports.
- Open and document Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs); support MRB and corrective actions to closure.
- Verify quality, traceability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain meticulous inspection records and quality documentation.
- Confirm calibration status and proper use of inspection equipment.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to contain issues and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on CMM experience (manual and/or programmable).
- Strong command of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
- Experience generating FAIR/FAI documentation.
- Knowledge of NCR, MRB, and RMA processes.
- Background working within ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or AS9100 quality systems.
- Proficiency with precision instruments: calipers, micrometers, height, pin, and thread gauges.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Exceptional attention to detail, clear communication, and sound problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
