- Full-time
Leidos is looking for our next TS/SCI-cleared Platform Services Technical Lead to join a high-energy team deploying and maintaining common application-runtime capabilities in support of the DIA-NDOC (National Digital Exploitation and OSINT Center) DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP). This role is part of a 10-year program supporting the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization effort, where you’ll contribute to mission-critical capabilities alongside a collaborative, innovative, and growth-oriented team.
While the majority of work is performed on-site at our customer location in Bethesda, MD, we offer a flexible schedule and occasional opportunities for remote work.
As a Platform Services Technical Lead, you’ll provide technical leadership, product direction, and ongoing execution for a multidisciplinary application team responsible for deploying and sustaining mission-critical application-runtime capabilities. You’ll work closely with the Lead Systems Engineer, Release Train Engineer, government stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate mission priorities and product roadmap requirements into actionable technical solutions and delivered capabilities.
In this role, you’ll guide technical design and implementation while managing product priorities, team execution, and delivery commitments. You’ll help balance new capabilities, operational sustainment, technical debt, and evolving mission requirements to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with program objectives.
You will work closely with the team on the following key tasks:
- Provide technical leadership and direction for the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of NDOC’s mission applications.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders, Systems Engineers, and the Release Train Engineer to translate mission requirements and product roadmap priorities into executable development plans.
- Own and prioritize the team backlog, decomposing features and requirements into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Guide technical design and implementation decisions, ensuring solutions align with system architecture, engineering standards, security requirements, and mission objectives.
- Lead technical discussions, evaluate solution alternatives, and help resolve complex engineering challenges across application, integration, and infrastructure components.
- Balance security requirements, defect resolution, sustainment, and technical debt to maintain platform stability and support long-term system evolution.
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and impediments, coordinating with engineering leadership and other teams to resolve issues affecting delivery.
- Drive execution against Program Increment (PI) objectives and sprint commitments, maintaining visibility into progress, priorities, and delivery risks.
- Lead or support Agile and SAFe activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews and demonstrations, retrospectives, and PI Planning.
- Promote engineering best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, performance and health monitoring, application security, and continuous process improvement.
- Communicate technical progress, delivery status, risks, and recommended solutions to program management, government stakeholders, and engineering leadership.
- Contribute to technical documentation, design reviews, and planning activities supporting current and future capabilities.
To be successful in this role you need the following (required qualifications):
You’re a technically strong, collaborative leader who can translate complex mission needs into practical engineering solutions while guiding a team toward successful delivery. You also meet the following qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field and 12 or more years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 or more years of prior relevant experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
- Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Kubernetes in a production environment, including cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, configuration, namespace/tenant management, resource quotas, limits, and capacity planning, role-based access control (RBAC), and troubleshooting workload, networking, scheduling, performance, and availability issues.
- Demonstrated experience operating shared platform services such as Elastic and Redis in production, including version management, configuration, scaling, monitoring, high availability, backup/recovery, and incident response.
- Experience implementing and maintaining platform security and hardening practices, including least-privilege access, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration baselines, encryption, audit logging, and secrets management.
- Experience with observability practices and tooling, including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting, SLOs/SLIs, capacity monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Linux-based application hosting, containers, container images, networking fundamentals, DNS, TLS/certificates, and storage concepts.
- Experience using infrastructure/platform automation and configuration management tools, such as Cloudformation, Helm, Salt, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate platform risks, tradeoffs, capacity concerns, and investment needs for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience serving as a Devops, Platform, or Shared Services Technical Lead, lead Systems Engineer, or similar role.
- Experience working in an Agile program, especially SAFe Agile.
You will wow us even more if you have some of these skills:
- Experience with AI algorithmically driven processing systems
- Cloud infrastructure experience
- Experience with Appian or other low-code software technologies
- Experience with any of the following technologies: PostgreSQL DevOps practices and tools including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and practices, especially Gitlab or Jenkins Keycloak
- Hands-on development and/or scripting experience, especially Java, Python, .NET
- Experience interacting with or administering MSSQL Server databases or other relational databases
