Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Senior Application Developer:

#1. Mobile Application Development Experience: 5 8 years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting production mobile applications for iOS and/or Android.

#2. Swift / iOS Development: Strong hands-on experience with Swift, iOS SDK, Xcode, and native iOS application development.

#3. React Native: Experience developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native.

#4. Backend Development: Hands-on experience with backend application development, REST APIs, API integrations, networking, databases, and cloud-connected applications.

#5. AWS: Experience integrating mobile and backend applications with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

#6. GCP: Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-connected applications.

#7. Mobile Application Architecture: Strong experience designing scalable, maintainable, secure mobile applications and independently delivering complex production features.

#8. Technical Leadership: Experience leading complex application development projects, conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, and resolving production issues.

#9. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.

Responsibilities of the Senior Application Developer:

Mobile Application Development

• Design, develop, test, release, and maintain production mobile applications for iOS and/or Android.
• Lead complex application features and projects from technical definition through production deployment.
• Develop scalable, maintainable mobile application architectures.
• Translate business requirements, product specifications, and user needs into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain applications supporting connected consumer products.
• Ensure compatibility with current mobile operating systems, devices, SDKs, and app-store requirements.

Backend Development & Cloud Integration

• Develop and integrate mobile applications with backend services, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
• Support applications utilizing AWS and GCP cloud services.
• Design and maintain secure and reliable communication between mobile applications and backend systems.
• Integrate third-party services and cloud-connected product functionality.
• Troubleshoot complex application, networking, integration, and performance issues.

Application Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction and leadership for mobile application development projects.
• Establish and promote mobile development best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and intermediate application developers.
• Identify architectural concerns, technical risks, and opportunities for system improvements.
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues.
• Provide technical estimates and contribute to project planning.

Connected Product Development

• Collaborate with electrical engineers, product engineers, software developers, and product design teams.
• Develop applications that communicate with connected electronic consumer products.
• Support integration with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices.
• Participate in the development of new software capabilities and connected-product concepts.
• Support device connectivity, application functionality, and user experience improvements.

Testing, Deployment & Maintenance

• Develop and maintain automated application testing processes.
• Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.
• Utilize Git and established source-control practices.
• Participate in application release planning and production deployments.
• Maintain application performance, security, reliability, accessibility, and usability.
• Develop technical documentation, specifications, and testing requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Development, Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Creative, Marketing, Ecommerce, and IT.
• Communicate technical requirements, project progress, and development challenges.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure application functionality aligns with product requirements.
• Manage complex technical assignments independently while supporting team objectives.

Requirements for the Senior Application Developer:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• 5 8 years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Significant hands-on experience developing production mobile applications.
• Strong Swift and native iOS development experience.
• Experience with React Native and cross-platform mobile application development.
• Backend development experience, including APIs, networking, and databases.
• Experience with AWS and GCP.
• Advanced expertise in mobile application architecture and design patterns.
• Experience integrating applications with cloud services and third-party platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex applications or major application features.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring developers.
• Strong project estimation, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to independently manage complex technical projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Application Developer:

• Bluetooth Integration:
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices, particularly connected consumer products.
• Plug-and-Play Integration:
  • Experience developing applications supporting plug-and-play device connectivity, device discovery, pairing, and seamless hardware/software integration.
• Experience developing mobile applications for connected consumer products, IoT devices, or smart electronic products.
• Native Android development experience using Kotlin, Java, Android Studio, and Android SDK.
• Experience supporting both iOS and Android platforms.
• Experience collaborating with electrical engineering and hardware development teams.
• Experience with application performance optimization and production troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.

• Senior-level individual contributor position with technical leadership responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently and mentor less experienced developers.
• Regular and predictable attendance required.
• Occasional off-hours participation in business meetings or company events.
• Work environment includes general office settings with potential exposure to engineering, manufacturing, and plant environments.
• May require moving throughout facilities and handling equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Appropriate personal protective equipment may be required when entering manufacturing areas.
