Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some Sundays if needed)
Position Summary
NOW HIRING for a Scale Operator in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for weighing, documenting, and verifying steel materials entering and leaving the facility to support inventory accuracy, production tracking, and customer billing. You will work closely with Receiving, Shipping, Production, Quality Control, and Accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Operate industrial scales to weigh incoming/outgoing steel; record gross, tare, and net weights, and verify paperwork.
Enter weights, customer info, and job numbers into tracking systems; maintain accurate weight tickets and reconcile discrepancies.
Confirm proper material identification, job numbers, and traceability before and after weighing.
Communicate with production, shipping, and material handlers to keep material flowing efficiently and prevent shipping delays.
Follow all standard operating procedures, maintain a clean workspace, and adhere to safety policies including required PPE and equipment protocols.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Must have computer, data-entry, and math skills with the ability to read work orders and shipping documents.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork.
Previous experience with industrial scales, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or steel materials is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods in an industrial manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, heat, and moving equipment).
